This sub was spotted in NY around Oct 12th. Can anyone identify it?

Here's something on the correct Salvatore Todaro in case anyone is interested:

He was a Regia Marina sub skipper during World war 2. Apparently he sunk four ships during his career(details here (http://www.regiamarina.net/subs/actions/sub_ops_com_us.asp), select his name from the drop-down menu) and survived the war.

Here's an article on the Italian submarine Cappellini, which he commanded during several war patrols
