Your posts, sir, don't warrant a response.

Furthermore, I'm thoroughly disappointed with what I saw unfold on the forums tonight. A lot of members here have acted immaturely, ungraciously and sometimes in a downright disturbingly bigoted fashion. It says a lot when I'm not nearly an Obama supporter and am in fact suspicious of him.

This is one of those few times I would rather be absent from this forum, the other being the conflict in Georgia earlier this year - except fortunately, I was involuntarily absent from the forums for several weeks during and after it.

I'm afraid I'll have to remove myself for a similar period to let those people with whom I became disappointed come back to their senses, get desensitized to this issue, and become reasonable, interesting people again.

Seriously, those of you who've lashed out tonight - look in the mirror and see if you could really see yourself act like that in front of people in real life. Come on, I know you're better than that. And I know you're better than that too.

See you in a bit, everyone. (And I'll remember to throw in a Subsim donation while I'm away).

Fine, I'll stop trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, but not to say my points on this don't stand. GT is really at its worst when it becomes a big bullfight. I needn't run off the community, but I think I'll take it easy on this section of it and go do some game-related things here for once!

Also, Neal: see, that's EXACTLY what I mean. Using the "but the dems did it first" excuse to act like that. That's exactly what I was saying - sure, I'll be the first to enthusiastically agree that a lot of leftists are a real bunch of whiners and snap uncontrollably when provoked. But is that really an excuse to act just as bad? That's very immature and, in my eyes, even worse than just acting like that due to being upset.

In the end, I think the problem is that I hate sore losers. That's why tonight I far preferred McCain's speech and was really annoyed at the boo-ers in the crowd. He was really gracious and if nothing else, he took defeat with honour and broke out not into partisan cliches but into a real unifying rhetoric, which is what I value most when it comes to places as polarized politically as the US. Now I wish his followers took the hint, seriously.

In any case, I do want a couple days' break. All this has given me a headache.

He won, but he is not yet president.

And on a serious sidenote, i hope the secret service will take most extreme care of him. I think, and many said so on TV, that he is the most endangered president ever. His security I am seriously worried about. That skin colour did not prevent almost all white voters wanting to vote democratic this time to vote for a dark-skinned man indeed, does not mean that the nutheads out there became smaller in numbers. and assassinations are not being planned by the wide public, but small groups of extremists.

From recent memory I would have thought that the 9/11 terrorist attacks on American soil were worse than Senator Obama being elected.

Or from an American societal level and given that an African American has been chosen as the next President, what about the Dred Scott Decision of 1857 by the US Supreme Court? The Supreme Court declared no slave or descendant of a slave could be a U.S. citizen, or ever had been a U.S. citizen. In effect blacks were nothing but possessions.

I'd rate both of the above mentioned examples as far worse than Senator Obama being elected as the next President of the United States of America. That's my two cents.

Yes, I must give MacCain credit well-deserved for his attitude and that speech. If only he would have kept that attitude during campaigning, and have made his capmaign campt to obey that as well, the race would have been a bit tighter.

As often before, Obama showed that he is a very great deliverer of speeches. Now comes his time of delivering the deeds. We will see.

Rather surprised that anyone could miss that little fact...:hmm:

Here in Sweden, this election has been THE thing to talk about in the news the recent months. They've been doing polls to see which senator has the most support from the swedish people. Obama won with more than 70% from the people that they asked. We had election watch on several swedish TV-networks. Including one that was led by two swedish comedians that made no attempt to hide their support for Barack Obama.
As good as everyone that I've been talking with is happy with this result.

You have an interesting if not strange standard for "worst moment ever" in your nations history. :-? However you are fully entitled to voice your opinion. :yep:

Are you accusing me directly of the above just because I felt that there were far worse events in US history than you claimed? Or are you levelling this claim at Senator Obama?

Ignore him, Konovalov.

As one enfant terrible here in Germany, Dieter Bohlen, has put it: "Versuch einem Deppen mal klarzumachen, daß er ein Depp ist..."

Clay, slow that wheelchair down!!! The USA will not fall off the face of the earth come Friday. You will find that Obama will be so swamped attempting to fix the economy that he will have just enough time to "change" his under shorts. Most if not all of what he said in the race was said only to win the race. The sad reality, he will stick with the current taxation and freeze spending (hmmm sounds like McCain, why yes, it was McCain). Trillion dollars of new spending and he wants to cut taxes? Ok, let me smoke what he is smoking. Furthermore, do you think McCain will sit idle why shear madness is going on? Highly unlikely. You have to remember, not everyone on Capitol buys into the rhetoric of Obama. They only did so to keep a seat and their self-serving interests alive and making a paycheck. Today felt no different to me. However, it does my heart good to see MLK's dream come to fruition. What would the world be if he was still around? We can only guess. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.

Remember that.

^ That certainly wouldn't be the first time a skipper (and his crew) have thanked God for the presence of a thick, solid, and strong steel hatch between themselves...

...and disaster!. :D
