View Full Version : CNN made a great site for the election results

I like their map:

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/president/

I am heavily disappointed so far in that the 'other' parties are not getting much of the vote yet. The Constitution party to be exact. In my opinion, I think both the repubs and the demos need a swift kick in the rear by losing massive ground to these newer parties. So far, I am not seeing this.

Interesting map, but Obama's already won Ohio and Florida. He's up by too much. McCain cannot catch up. Missouri is swinging in favor of McCain, but only about half the votes are in.

An election, forums abuzz...

Busy night.

Busy night.:doh:Hardly. Go back and look again. Vote count is nearly 50/50.

And by the way, we won't know what happened in Florida for at least a month! :D

I want the Constitution party to make some major gains here though. Not happening.

-S

PS. Look closely at the map - they are calling a state to a president elect with only 4% of the precincts reporting. You won't know anything for many moons.

be careful what you wish for mate - people wished for that in the ACT election here, we ended up with the green party holding the balance of power - they're eco-nuts!

As for the site, look at michigan, 49% each, nice and tight. Then some of the huge gaps, upwards of 30%! Stunning figures really:|\\

194 electoral votes for Obama...

194 electoral votes for Obama...

:hmm:Hello? What part of 4% of the vote counted are you missing? :D You know nothing yet.

Mouse over a state. ME for example shows a strong Obama lead, yet only has 7% counted.

Another example, Georgia shows a slim McCain lead, but once again, only 52% counted. This is still a toss up.

Kind of fun to watch though.

He's maintained a strong lead in Maine for months. He's won it. I'll bet a hundred dollars he's won it.

Indeed. I still speculate that he shall win in the end.

Cool link.It is, but I already see bias in it. Why are only Obama states compiled on in the right side? Oh!! CNN is owned by Hillary! I almost forgot! :D

Maybe not such a good site. NM shows a majority for McCain at 62%, yet its marked Obama.

Need to go find a new site I think. This one is skewing the results!

It tends to get scrambled at times, but updates eventually.

I noticed that too, weird. Perhaps a mistake on their part, not a "skewing"?

Reading on their main site, it says that CNN predicts its an Obama win, so they have colored it for us regardless what the real results are.

On a side note: I am looking at the different states, and Texas is really huge. I read somewhere its the size of France.

Yep, Texas is huge. It's almost half as big as Alaska.:hmm:

Edit : Here's a good reference for state sizes by square mile http://www.enchantedlearning.com/usa/states/area.shtml

Yep it's huge.. someone once said, you could pack the whole human population of the world into texas, and you would still have a lower population density than New York City.

Ugh. I dont understand why people would want to live literally on top of each other.

And yeah, Alaska is a monster. Holy king crab!

As far as I remember, it was meant as comparison that there is not really a problem with over population or so.. ;)

He did? So soon? Weird. I just looked at the numbers again - 50% for the battleground states for example.

-S

Stealth Hunter

Look, even if he did win ALL the battleground states, he'd still be behind Obama.

Wait- didn't Johnson have the record for the most electoral votes ever received (Lyndon Johnson)?

SUBMAN1
11-04-08, 11:59 PM
Well, I'm always skeptical until its official. Kerry was shown to be the winner in 2004 and Bush ended up winning. Something almost similar happened in 2000. So I have a wait and see attitude.

Regardless, both are Socialists. One just 'less so' that the other. Go Constitution party. Until they gain ground, we all eat the same soup. Its hard to differentiate the main two parties lately. For the repub side, it is good they got a butt whipping. They need to realize that they won't get anymore votes if they keep up like they have been. It is time for a third party.
