I'm thinking about upgrading to a better digital camera. I got a Samsung S85 back in January and while it is a good little camera I think I want something more. I don't want to go all out for a DSLR (I'd like to, but not enough funds ). I am looking for something with a 12x optical zoom or more, has really good battery life, optical image stabilization, and is under $300. Of course the more features the better. What do you guys recommend? If you can, post a sample picture.

I was thinking about the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28, but if there is a better value out there I am all ears. :yep:

My last point-and-shoot superzoom was a Fuji s6000fd which served me well but is now almost three years old. The Lumix looks nice, look also into some of the newer Canon PowerShots like the S5 IS or whatever else falls into your price range.

Don't have a super zoom myself. However I find the following site excellent for all my DSLR and photography needs: http://www.cameralabs.com/buyers_guide/superzooms/best_super_zoom_camera.shtml

Have a read there on super-zooms.

I took my little compact (Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5) to the SS Meet this year and it never let me down.

Good for getting info on a given camera.

Check "Best Cameras" in the menu on the left, and then "Superzoom".
