Also in Romania, it is not yet available. I called UBI to no avail. More than that, the u-boat add-on is not available. I told them not to complain about piracy, when the game is not available. Oddly enough, this had some effect and I could get my hands on it. :o

Are you saying that Romania has a socialist market ?

Same thing here in Holland, but here it's just a matter of stores still having stock of the original, so they're not gonna pick up any of the gold editions. Might have better luck with online stores. :hmm:

Well I did try several of them. Amazon told me the cost would be prohibitive due to shipping charges.

Why has Ubi done this?? to us

A little behind the time isn't he, Kruger? Hey Seminole, a bunch of formerly socialist Romanians took a half baked failing franchise out of us godlike Americans' hands and turned it into a real sub simulator without peer in the world. Then they did it again! I'd call that free market excelsior.:up::up:

When a piece of software goes 'Gold' I thought it meant that it had been through beta-testing and was ready for release. What does 'Gold Edition' mean? If you already have SH4 + Uboats why would you wanna buy this?

It's just eye candy :), but a nice one for a passionate subsimmer :)

Because a large number of us couldn't get the U-boat add-on. This is a great thing for us.

Usually yes, when an unreleased game is announced as going gold, it generally means that a master has been created and the code is considered finalised. Mass production and release to the public is imminent.

For previously released games it really has no meaning. Sure, it can occasionally be used to reflect reaching gold status for sales, but generally you'll find it used merely as a marketing ploy/gimmick to indicate an ultimate or combined re-release of an existing product (generally what the punter, err user, already has). In this sense it's on par with terms like "Ultimate Edition!" or "Complete Edition!", but these terms don't sound as exotic.
