View Full Version : My Little Kitty

I was pulling into work about 3 weeks ago and, above the stereo. I thought I heard a kitty meow...you know the ones from a lost kitten...after looking and finding nothing...being abandond...

I blew it off...then 3 days later we heard the kitty. a buddy and I tried to feed it...it was hidding underneath one of the 6o plus trailers on the lot...
Didn' matter what I did, milk and chicken put out, the cat was un-catchable...would take the bait but yet run and hide in the strangest spot...the last I saw of it was when it ran in-between the rungs on a trailer...didn't hear anything for a week...thought it was shipped out on a trailer..
My relief dispatcher confirmed she heard a kitty meow in the lot early AM.

I prepared myself with cat food to try and bait it (if I could get close again)...I mean it could end up as road kill with all the trucks in and out of my yard thourghout the day...

Well it ended up it was in the Hospial yard which abuts the Coke yard...and I heard it meowing (after calling it one mornig)...

I had rode my bike to work that night and waited till the next shift to try my capture....BTW I carried food for a week and didn't hear nothing...

I now am in the possession of a feral cat whom I rescued...and took her down to get shots...wondering if she would ever come around...

Here's a few shots...

It took almost a week to get her to be friendly...now she wont leave my lap

And to top it off...this is her favorite toy...

She is truley a trip...and I believe that she appreiciates the quiet confort of home...she is still skiddish...but sleeps close and has a purr motor unequal to any kitty I have had...

Il post more as she comes about....

Try to remember that cats are all born brain dammaged... dont be too judgmental about their behaviour. :p

Nice to see the kitten find a home. So many do not.

I have a black cat too that I took in as a stray was about the same size (would fit in the palm of my hand). She has been with us for many years and shows her gratitude every day.

She is getting old now and has been through hell, attacked by dogs, hit by a car and lay wounded in a ditch for two days, fell off a two story roof. She now has a subluxinated disk in her back, partially crippeled, and going blind. She still 'loves' as if she was just a kitten.

Yes your kitten will 'come around' from the looks of your pictures she has already started.

cute cat.

I used to be a cat person.

I used to have a cat a long time ago.

but since i moved to the city and the local stray cats love to use my back porch as a kitty brothel at 2:00 in the morning i am no longer a cat person. they stink, they spray everything, and they are SO loud when they are in the "mood"

cats are now the reason i keep one of these by my back door... http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-41902112641410_2027_60604299

This is what I use on dogs that come into my yard not on a leash. [not the person - just the dog].

Causes much damage to the dog [not the owner of the dog], major holes in the target especially the EXIT point, effective without too much noise to upset the neighbors, and if you miss, no big deal has more rounds without reloading a pistol clip.

Have had our two cats on a uderground electrtical fence and they have never had a problem with bugging neighbors, ever, including leaving MY property - just does not happen.

My BIGGEST problem is the jerks with dogs not on a leash. Cannot keep the darn dogs OFF my property without using this:

http://learnabit.homeserver.com/lab/medford10.jpg

Only came ONCE in ten years of unlocking the safety.

FYI:
Had a dog as a kid. 20 years later, after I was married, had to put the dog "DOWN" because of poor health. NEVER do I want to go through that again. With a cat, does not not bug me to do it. Go figure?

Get a scratching post for the cat or the cat will FIND something to use.

And just because the animal is a cat doesn't mean you don't train them like dogs. Cats are just as intelligent, albeit more difficult to train, as dogs are. Especially train the cat to NOT sit under cars in the driveway and the cat will figure out the rest of road safety from there.

We bought a scratching post for our cats but they flatly refuse to use it and prefer to sharpen their claws on anything else such as furniture, wallpaper, my clothes...still, you've got to love them though.

Yup, very true! Cats are both very trainable and very loyal, it's just that it's not an instant thing with them.

Alot of people have things abit confused about us Californians.

About it being the land of Fruits & Nuts.

I'll clear up this confusion.

The Fruits are in Northern Calif.

The Nuts are in Southern Calif.

These Nuts are usually well armed and will shoot anyone that shoots their pets. And... without a second thought. :yep:

If a neighbors pet is causeing you trouble let the neighbor know or use the squirt gun ( diluted amonia ) or ball method.

The life you save just might be your own. :yep:

We have a few cats around the house and a few dogs.

Their all good animals.

My personal cat: Pirate Kittheh has this whitish face surrounded by black on the top and the area around one of his eyes is black fur, really makes him look like a pirate.

Friendly as hell, comes when he's called an everything, need to get him neutered though since he got his sister (mouse kitteh who looks strangly like a mouse) pregnant.

Mouse kitteh's kittens are cute as hell though, chubby lil bastards who keep stealing my blanket (I sleep on the floor)

Cats are nice because they can sit on your lap and don't seem to get tired of you, they also kill mice.

Dogs are nice because their big and cuddly and helpful, our dogs here are good herd dogs.
They will also protect you. Our old rotwhiler if he knoticed you were in danger would put himself between you and your enemy.

But I did discover she likes the feather duster...
