Has anone seen this film already? I just became aware of it on CNN where they had a long TV conference with the makers. Except from the usual suspects, who are being threatened by it, it received much praise.

Sounds very interesting. I've always been worried about the fact that the worlds economy is based largely on the fact that the U.S borrows money from other countries, and that we must simply assume that we will get our money back.

Well you can consider it a donation, if it makes you feel better!:D

It's all part of a diabolical plot to passively achieve global domination through threatening the world financial markets with total collapse if we default on these loans. After all: "Borrow a thousand dollars and the bank owns you. Borrow a million dollars and you own the bank!"

I had the good fortune to see I.O.U.S.A. last night at a special Film Society screening, and also got a free copy of the book by Addison Wiggin & Kate Incontrera. The director Patrick Creadon was there for Q&A, and he said the film will be shown on HBO & CNN in the near future.
Creadon said the hardest part of making the film was making it as non-partisan as possible, to satisfy the wide range of guests that appear in the film -- these include folks like Ron Paul, Warren Buffet, Alan Greenspan, David Walker, & Paul O'Neill.
The great thing about the film is the clear & startling explanation of the economic "perfect storm" facing us, which can be broken down into 4 major deficits:
1) The Federal Deficit (the budget deficit & the national debt)
2) The Savings Deficit (Americans now not only do not save, they spend their savings)
3) The Trade Deficit
4) The Leadership Deficit
There's a lot that the film doesn't cover, probably due to the added complexity involved, such as the massive derivatives bubble, housing bubble, & credit bubble, all collapsing as we speak. Even for the serious-minded people in the audience, that might have been too much to bear!
If you have specific questions, I might be able to address them. Note that I'll be away & unable to reply until next Wednesday.
Buona Fortuna,
Wayne
