Some very unusual playing style to be seen by Anand. In order to deny Kramnik the comfort to act on known ground of theory, he sometimes gave the impression of wanting to rewrite elements of basic strategy himself. But his success (only in one match Kramnik ever was able to build convincing pressure by himself and win) justifies this heresy, so it may create a new playing style indeed. Ananad scored victory three times - with the black pieces (consdered to be a disadvantage in chess), and refused to castle repeatedly.

Anand (from India) is considered to be very cool by character, and to be a very unorthodox player by style. He also is known for playinmg very quick, and is unofficial world champion in speedchess. Kramnik is considered to be one of the strongest defensive players in the history of chess, and has undergone the old traditonal chess school of Russia.

Both players are two of only 4 players who ever had a strength rating beyond 2800 ELO. (The other two are Kasparov and Topalev). Anand took the world title from kramnik, who won the title over Kasparov who then retired from chess). Both are known to have a high interest in computer chess, but were unable to defeat the top programs in duels over a series of matches.
