Yes, I have searched the forums and have found no respite!
I'm playing SHIV 1.4 with TMO installed. I can't finish my mission objectives. I've grounded and sunk my vessel trying to get close enough. I've dived and surfaced. Repeatedly! I've waited an hour in real time, an hour in time compression. I've been within 3NM, I've been closer. Still no dingy launching, no supply drop. I'm at my wits end!

Does a menu pop up? Or a small button in the top right corner?

Nothing I've seen so far.

You seem to be doing exactly what you need to be doing to complete the mission. Perhaps getting closer than 3nm...but then you said you went in closer than that... so...:hmm:
Every single time that have done it like you described...a large pop up box displayed, when I surfaced, with an option to launch. Also a smaller "button" appears in the upper right screen. Clicking this also launches the dingy.
The hitch most likely has something to do with "TMO+SH 1.4" somehow or perhaps its another mod you have installed. There are so many mods out there that I don't believe anyone can fully understand all the possible interactions of random combos. I know I've had my fair share of surprizes.

Only thing I dident see mentioned is "I came to a complete stop while sufraced within x miles".
He probably did but just thought Id mention it.

By the way ... why still 1.4 ?
Cmon the add on is cheap and fixes alot of things. Almost all the mods have compatible versions now.

I play the stock game, 1.4 (I think) patch. That happened to me once. I pulled in and shortly before reaching the dropoff point I stopped engines with the intent of slowly coasting to a stop. I never got the pop up about launching. I think maybe something will keep it from coming up if you cut your engines early. I had no option but to sail on without dropping the agent off.
What I do now is reverse engines and then stop then when my speed is zero or close to it, haven't had the problem since.
Been a while since I played stock but I seem to remember you had to get within 1 nm and below 3 knots.

Still on 1.4 cuz I've seen no reason to switch. I keep asking what 1.5 "fixes" but have never received a decent response so I've stuck with 1.4 as I'm enjoying it.
I'm not against switching, money is certainly not the problem, I just haven't seen anything posted that's indicated what's worth the switch. :-?

^ What he said. I shallt try again today.
For a while, I agreed with you and resisted moving to 1.5 because no one could definitively tell me why I should--and neither can I. All I can say is there are a lot of new features (crew special abilities for example) that are implemented in 1.5. I strongly urge you to get it. It installs with no problems and there are several new enhancements you will enjoy.

I didn't resist 1.5 for any other reason than I was waiting for the Gold Edition to be released.
After I did get 1.5 though I could have kicked myself for waiting...:yep:
The differences have been discussed to death. No need to rehash that here.

Ditto here - the above gentleman said it all. Get 1.5.
Regarless 1.4 or 1.5. ALL STOP! you must be at 0 [zero] knots to place your dingy into the water. :D launch it - the boat; hold on to your dingy . Don't get confused on what a dingy to put into the water. :rotfl:

I'll probably get it as I saw it up here in a local Future Shop so I'll join the crowd, LOL.
Still noone has really articulated the differences apart from the special abilities thing.
In fact it seemed that some issues were resolved and new ones discovered (i.e. CO2). Seminole, if there's a post discussing the specifics of the differences I haven't found it.
Anyway, I'll take the plunge!! Pun intended. No doubt I'll be posting on here for assistance in a while after trying to install the latest mods (TMO and RSRD) for 1.5.:nope: ;)

I have had three Insertion Missions without any issues. I get with about 1000 yds of the beach, depth permitting, and launch the dinghy. I watch it move toward the beach via the map display. Then, backing down, I move back away from the beach. My only concern is the racket that the crew makes launching the boat. I am using V1.5. Old_tex P.S. Of course, all this occurs after 0100 hours.

I think the only way to avoid that horrendous noise when the dinghy "collides" with the sub is to "slow reverse" once it's launched then turn away, otherwise you get the ship collision noise every time!! (that oversight by the devs and the fact it has never been fixed is one of my favourite bitching points,LOL, I still can't believe they couldn't/wouldn't fix that with 1.5!!!!)

Yea its amazing how much noise a rubber boat can make ! ...
Not to worry though its just a sound file and the AI cant really 'hear' it.
