Hey, i'm new to subsims. I have been playing SHIII 1.4 vanilla, just dl'd GRWX 2/2.1
Whenever I try to start a mission or view museum, the game stops loading about 97% of the way through.
My machine exceeds recomended reqs though I do have Vista.
The normal game runs fine, please help as I really wish to play this mod!

what version of windows are you using?
Did you have any sort of mods before installing GWX?
GWX will take longer to load than SHIII 1.4 vanilla due to the larger file size. It will appear to stop loading at times but, wait it out, it is worth it.:yep:

Welcome to SubSim!
Welcome.:sunny:
By "incredibly long" how long do you mean? Not trying to be funny btw. Most people here report load times of between 3-10 minutes. I have Vista too & I average about 4-5 minutes to load a saved game and 5-7 minutes to load the Museum.

I just thought I'd mention that most Vista users should notice a large decrease in load time using ReadyBoost (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/readyboost.aspx). Basically, all you do is pop in a flash drive and chose the ready boost option. Windows will set it up with good defaults. This basically caches the files used during loading for faster access.
[EDIT] I think everyone should also be aware that prior to service pack 1 (SP1), Vista had a serious flaw that made file access increadibly slow, even with readyboost. All Vista users should update with the latest service pack if they want to fix this issue. This is stated as an IT professional, but you do it at your own risk.

Thanks for the tip. Eventually I'm gonna have to get the Vista pc ( the one SH III is installed on) connected to to the Internet. I've been putting it off for to long...:nope:

3 to 10 minutes?? Wow...I feel pretty darn good about my new machine, then! GWX2.1 saved games load in approx. 1-2 minutes. I'm not using the merged campaigns, however...I read that makes a BIG difference.
