Yeah! That's the spirit!:up:

I encountered such a convoy once myself. Dozen of neutrals but some fat juicy Tommies among them! Sunk:rock: em!

Really.. thats awesome. BUT why not just send this post to all your friends in a PM? :cry:

Don't you know Team GWX is watching, listening, plotting there next expansion or stand alone? :cry:

We are doomed... doomed I tell you! :damn:

I was there.. I saw there faces light up with evil delight at the discovery of the new 67 ton merchant.. I KID YOU NOT! :yep:

Imagine the same convoy bristling with a dozen teeny tiny merchants lighter than a sloop with a bunch of naked strippers onboard!

NOW HEAR THIS... From now on all posted patrol/convoy encounters should read:

"Hi guys just finished my 28th patrol still havent sank a ship yet BUT I did for a moment glimpse the juiciest glowing coastal freighter I ever saw. It was steaming alone so I closed in for the kill. Suddenly out of nowhere 9 DDs appeared and depth charged me into submission. Luckily I survived to play another patrol. I feel so blessed."

If we stick together on this, the 10k tanker may survive the cut. :yep:

Remember he who has the least amount of tons at the end of a career wins! :up:

@Hanomag
Roger that. From now on I'll report only sinking of tugboats, fishing boats and schooners. :lol:

@Mikhayl
Well done, despite the inaccurate intelligence report. :up:

Have come across this before.
You had a lot more luck than me though.
I ran across a massive convoy but the was only a few targets that were not nutreal.
I now check out all intel reports of a nutreal convoy when its in range.:arrgh!:

I ran into a "neutral" convoy the other day as well. It was FULL of British ships, with a handful of neutrals in there as well. Escorted by a Cruiser and a Submarine even!

The ID of the convoy is determined by the nationality of the leading ship. If that ship is a neutral the entire convoy will be reported as neutral. The same will happen if a submarine is leading the convoy. In this case the entire convoy will be noted on the map as a giant submarine symbol.

Limitations of the game engine I'm afraid ;)

Ya know, before the british got in the war, when it was only the Poland I came up on a neutral british convoy. Didnt think anything of it, so I just went on, moments later. I hear We are under attack. so I dive and have a hour long fight with a polish distroyer. it was guarding a british convoy though, it was the only polish distroyer in the convoy, and it is the only polish ship I have seen this carear.:lol:

So that submarine symbol I saw last patrol could have been a convoy.:huh:

If it's an oversized one yes. Still if you click on it, you will get the information as "Convoy".

There is no such thing as a "neutral" convoy in my book!

You'll always find a Brit or other enemy targets peppered in among the neutral flags they're using as shields.

They're just banking on you being too worried about sinking a neutral ship by accident.

My answer to that?

Eins, Zwei, Drei, Veir....LOSE! :arrgh!:

Some good intel for early war captains :D
So, it's late November 1939, 4th patrol for me (including the training one) in the BF grids. I got a contact report on a "Large Neutral Convoy, heading WSW, 8knots" in grid BF15 (just south of Ireland). I thought it would be an Irish convoy fully lit up, but since I was only some 100km away I decided to check it out anyway.

Turns out the convoy was anything but neutral, and actually full of serious tonnage ! I don't know if the ships in that convoy are random or not, but there were at least 6 large merchants and 4 large tankers, plus lots of various ships. The convoy is quite huge, 6 or 7 columns, and as far as I could see, only 3 escorts and not the most dangerous ones at that.
I got quite close to lots of ships and I only saw red ensigns, British, Australian etc, and not a single lit ship, so much for the "neutral" convoy :up:
In 3 attacks through the night I sunk 6 ships for 65.000 tons out of that convoy, and only one neutral among them, a small 2000 tons merchant that I wasn't even targetting :damn:

Good work: I once completely neutralized a "neutral" convoy, in 1940. Sinking 16 ships from a 18-ship convoy, leaving only 2 neutral Greek Small Merchants (Small merchants with tanks on their decks, The Greek farmers got some good hardware to till their fields...)
