I just finished my desk mod for SH3. I play at night in the dark quite often and find my black keyboard quite hard to see. I have been looking for a good solution to light up my keyboard without getting one that is backlit. I have installed a custom light kit built from Radio Shack parts and my trusty soildering iron. I can now switch red LED's on to light my keyboard at night as if I'm in the sub. This enables me to see the reflective letters just fine while not detracting from those dark OLCE2 nights. I will post pictures if I can ever find my camera...
Have any of you put in a few desk mods to make playing easier/better?

At night, when I want to add a little atmosphere, I attach a regular store-bought portable desk lamp to my keyboard shelf. I have a red bulb in the lamp that looks good when I'm rigged for red, and still allows me to clearly see my keyboard and notepad.
There's nothing wrong with the nice indigo/blue backlit keys on my Logitech G11 keyboard. Works like a charm:yep:

Red lighting is the first step but for that ultimate experience I strongly recommend adding Thomsen's excellent mod.

Redbear's solution is the simplest. All you need to do is finf a red bulb, not the easiest of things :D
