Is there any way to make the damage control more intuitive?

I've read this thread (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=109849), and I kind of get the idea of how it's supposed to work, but honestly it just doesn't seem to work appropriately. Damage control has always been the one issue that really kills SH4 for me. When I try to save my boat, the damage is almost always catastrophic and I die way too fast to do anything about it.

Does the U-Boat missions bring over the SH3 version of damage control? If so, I'd be happy. That was a damage model I could understand and instantly grasp.

I'm a big fan of GWX, I feel like even with the difficulty, SH3 was survivable if you suffered minor damage. In SH4, I feel like if you are hit, you are dead. It doesn't really matter if you try to save yourself or not - you are still going down.

Im afraid not, its kind of goofy really.

The only thing Ive been able to figure out is that if you put people in the damage control stations, then sort the things you want fixed into the 'que' (last in first fixed) they sort of fix things in that order.

However you do not have to have people in DC station for things to get repaired  .

Lastly things seem to get repaired more quickly if you go to general quarters.

I have yet to see a definative description as to how this system acutally works these are just my impressions.

To add to the confusion sometimes things get 'repaired' yet they arent fully repaired, Batteries are a good example. Have them slightly damaged, they get repaired yet they wont take a full charge... ever... leaving you to manually cut off battery charging. :shifty:

"Confusion will be my epitaph", lyrics from Epitaph, King Krimson.

Somehow it fits with the thread...

near as i can tell they fix things at regular normal speed as though it were routine maintenance but at general quarters they hustle and do everything quick time.
