I bet that goes over like a lead balloon. Now if you could have sword fights with Beelzibub, that might be a different story.

Not just for Quakers, the game promises to be inclusive of those from other faiths and spiritual traditions.

No doubt someone will get offended. However, that could be a good thing because any press is good press and free advertising.

I wonder if the game will have a cheat for "God mode".

I'm a Quaker, but of course there's spiritual beliefs and then there's good game design, and so far putting the two together for any religion has not produced good results (understatement!), so I'll be as skeptical as I have to be on this. And hopefully that's not the actual title of the game, cause that'd be one of the worst puns in video gaming history

I'm fairly religious and an isolationist (read; peace advocate) and even I wouldn't touch that crap.

Just saying my peace:roll:

Just saying my peace:roll:I'm waiting for the atheists opinion on this. All I've been hearing lately from them is how religions incite wars lately. I never see any of them do something like this.

This simply looks like a knockoff of second life or something though.

First off. This is a hoax. There is no.. nor will there ever BE a World of Peacecraft. However, I think it would be kind of neat to have one.

I'm waiting for the atheists opinion on this. All I've been hearing lately from them is how religions incite wars lately. I never see any of them do something like this.

Seccond. I'm an atheist and I don't believe that religions incite wars. Rather, I believe that people do. I would never EVER blame anything on any religeon. People start wars. Religions don't. I'm very tollerant and will blatantly support anyone in ANY religious belief if it's not hurting anyone else and if the religious individual feels that their beliefs make them a better person.
Atheists saying that religions incite war is only an image that's portrayed by the media (because it creates controversy and makes good TV) and by extreme right wingers who are anti-anything non-christian. Heck.. you go down to the Bible Belt and there are towns that will burn you at the stake or at least consider you "The Devil" if you're an athiest. Most atheists are NOT like that at all. It's a steriotype that also unfortunately gets propogated by a radical few who DO behave in that manner, along with the media coverage that adds fuel to the fire. Do you really think that they'll show on TV or the radio or in the papers "Atheist befriends and supports good Christian woman in her beliefs" ? Heck no ! They're going to interview and show the idiot who's standing there saying "All religion is bad !! Religion incites violence and wars !!". This makes for what they consider good news. Those people who say crap like that however are actually in the minority and don't represent the feelings of the community. Also.. the Christian Far Right LOVES to villify Athiests as much as they can.

Lately, all I've heard from the Right up here is that being a Muslem is bad and that it creates terrorists and wars. Once again, I don't believe this as true and it's just media hype to make for controvercial TV/radio. It's pretty much the same thing you describe the Atheists doing. These comments are NOT the feelings of the whole in my opinion. There are only a radical few who hold to these ideas both in the athiest AND christian/conservative/right movement.

Wasn't I one of the usual "atheists"? :D

I don't think any sane person would peg anything on the Quakers, considering that statistically, they've started and supported more humanitarian projects per capita than any other religious group on the planet. But the Quakers also have quite a few differences with most religious groups on the planet in the way they approach religion.

Not to say others do incite violence, of course. I don't think any religion specifically incites violence, although there are some intepretations of some religions dogmas (and some religious dogmas in general) that are more likely to. Quakers certainly share a distrust toward dogma and religious hierarchy with most atheists. Which I think is why they've done darn well at remaining a pragmatic, rational group - which I can't say for large numbers of other denominations, unfortunately.
