Okay, I have a free plane ticket on southwest.

1. any cool naval parks in your part of the country?
2. What airport would be the best to fly into to go to Gettysburg or Antietam?

I've been to battleship park before twice, and I can say the Alabama is a sight to behold, along with their collection of military aircraft.

San Diego Maritime Museum. (http://www.sdmaritime.com/)

The Star of India, The Midway, The Russian B39 submarine...plus, it doesn't matter what time of year you arrive, it's generally warmer then the rest of the country.

Side issue: as you fly in, you can see the Maritime Museum out the port side windows of the plane, plus, if you come in on a commuter flight, you will arrive at the original Terminal where the predecessor of South West Airlines began flight operations.

No it was not Lindburg, his hanger is on the other side of the airport.

Accommodation reasonable on the waterfront, you can walk into the downtown area...actually, it would make a great place for a Subsim meeting. :::hint hint:::

It is not a free plane ticket. You will have to declare it on this years tax return as part of your gross income. Nothing in life is free anymore.

Anyway, Gettysburg you can use BWI or Harrisburg Intl airport. Personally, I would use BWI because you are dead center of Washington DC and Gettysburg...relatively. You can get a rental car for about $15.00 a day. See Washington and Gettysburg. Visit the Torsk, Taney and Constellation. All of this about 1-1 1/2 hours from BWI.

Just fly into Philly man. It puts you in the middle of both of them. I lived about an hours drive from Gettysburg in between Lancaster and Philly, but to get to Arlington was a 2 to 3 hour drive for me. And Bull Run is there, and lots of sobering memorials from the War Between the States. I remember one memorial on a mound dedicated to 3,000 unkowns from the 2nd battle at Bull Run. It was quite a bit for a 19 yearold kid to comprehend.

There are also some cool naval exibits in the DC area too, and in Maryland, so you can catch them all if you have the time.
