This one below is from the Weapons and Sensors Screen...there is another on the Torpedo Screen.

I can't think of any use for them.Seems I already know what is or isn't ON BOAT since I loaded it before leaving port. Just wondering why the developers spent time and energy putting them in the sim....:-? ..or could be there something usefull about them that I've overlooked? :shifty:

Look at them again while in your 'office' in carrer mode.

It simply compares a potential upgrade to what you already have on boat for say radar for instance.

Speaking of these boxes. Maybe I should ask this in the mod forum instead.... I have tried editing the menu.txt file:

"\Data\Menu\menu.txt" to get the torpedo specifications; #5370 - #5375 to describe the range in yards instead of meters in these "On Boat" boxes - in port or on patrol and also the tool tips etc but they still remain in meters! I even finished and started a new career thinking that they would change then. No luck.

Example of what I'd like to see:

I guess it isn't a big deal because I know what the torpedo ranges are in yards, but does anyone know where else these ranges could be located & edited for 'cosmetic purposes' in the boxes?

Doubt your going to see that. The core math in the game engine is based on the metric system.

Imperial units are extrapolated from the metric uints for display purposes.

Take a look at "UPCLocalization.tsr" (open with notepad) in "data/upcdata/upclocalization/" :yep:

I did already. Didn't find them of much if any value in there either.

I plan on doing a German career sometime soon..maybe like the man said they are helpful there to at least some extent.
