I thought earlier 688's ride up in the bow like this, but not 688I's.

Unless they've blown their TLAM load, that is. Did Hampton see some action in the last 6 months? Or am I wrong about the bow thing?

Maybe they deliberately trimmed her that way so that water wouldn't wash over the deck?

Arent the 688's trimmed with 1.5 degree up bubble for surface travel? I seem to remember reading something like that.

I believe the 688i that my friend worked on had the same angle while at the dock.

Keeping the screw or pumpjet submerged whilst the boat is surfaced makes it more efficient.

Thanks! No your not. When you see them steaming on the surface they get more bow wash obviously. But I spent many a topside watch when we were in port and it was one of the things I noticed when we were tied up next to an LA class boat. The bow was more pronounced than our 637 class. It really does look like there is a bit of an up angle to it. I do not think for a moment that the 688 boat needed to be trimmed in a specific manner to keep the screw in the water either.

Though it's been many years I don't recall mountains south of San Diego or North Island. That looks like Pearl Harbor. The "jetty" is the bridge to Ford Island.

The LA's ride higher on the surface because the forward main ballast tanks are proportionally larger than previous US SSN classes.

I stand corrected, but not by Navy mumbo-jumbo.

I was in San Diego this week and there are mountains south of SD. The buildings in the back ground threw me off as I didn't remember them. They are south of Coronado. The jetty is the North Island side of the channel opposite the Sub Base at Ballast Point on Point Loma.
