Here she is 1/2 mile away from my home earlier this summer during her farewell tour.
She actually payed a final final visit to the River Tyne the day I flew out to this years SS Meet (10-8-08)

Compared to the looks of todays ships...she is a beauty queen. Nice lines and a beautiful ship for sure. At least she is not headed to the scrapyard.

That's true, but I hear her powerplant is in a hell of a state.

Interesting. I suspect the repair costs far outweigh what profit she can turn? Perhaps. But again, the cutting torch is not being used and an elegant ship still has her use in this world other than being cut up for razor blades.

We'll take any small mercies that come along....besides, they're building another replacement due out in 2010.

There may be a new one, but no ship will replace a classic one.:up: Like said before, atleast she not going to be scraped.:yep:

Some of the most beautiful lines you will fine are in old ship and cars. I think the QE2 is one these with the fine lines. Even some of the older aircraft are just beautifully crafted and easy on the eye. Cars from the US in the late 50's also have beautiful lines. The QE2 exhibits all that beauty one could ask for in a liner. New is nice but I like the blasts from the past.
