I was digging through some old boxes, and I found my DC disk. Now can I get it to run?

On Winxp got SH2 running no problem, but i can't get DC to, DC installs well, but when i load the game up all i get is a black screen. I can hear the music in the background so she' has loaded im thinking the game can't recognise later model gfx cards and i dont want to rollback to old drivers cause then i'll most likely have problems with the main games i play. Bound to be some workaround to get DC to run, I gave up.

If you are running a modern NVidia card with modern drivers, you'll get corrupted text evreywhere. Ati cards seem to still work, though.

XP shouldn't be a definitive problem, try to put the exes in compatibility mode and such.

I have a 8800GTX running on Vista64 with actual drivers and no problems with SHII/DC since the past four or five driver versions, maybe it's also solved on XP?

I'll bump that about the Nvidia cards corrupting the text. I had PA and SH2 running fine on Xp, changed to a 8800GT and they remain unplayable. DC would not even install until I tried to in safe mode. I think it's about DX10 supporting cards mainly. It forced me to build yet another system for the older games. I use a P2-400 for the OLD stuff (Star Wars Arcade, Strike Commander, B17) and now a Dell OptiPlex GX240 P4-1.7 for the in between stuff I can't make run on either the P2, or my main PC, without breaking something else. The hard part is finding graphics cards for the old systems. They either don't have a PCI or AGP slot, or they're made for low profile cards etc.

No probs with SHII\DC useing XP and NiVidia card.

Don't have a clue what the probs for U all could be.

I will say I turn off all my anti virus when I install a game,or Play it.

While I've left SH2 behind, I still play DC ocassionally, as it's the only one of its kind. After SH3 I'm always amazed at how fast it loads, even on my now-older system.

On a further note about Xp/Nividia video corruption, I just tries Microsoft Virtual Machine 2007 and it came close to being the answer. It's shot down now as it emulates an eight megabyte video card at it's most updated version.:shifty::88):dead:

Otherwise it was pretty slick to use. You do need to have a valid copy of Windows 98 to install, or any other OS for that matter.
