Bush rescued by sub.

I saw years back on the History Channel I think film made in WW2 on a US sub that picked up downed pilots. It didn't mention the name of the sub, but it showed President Bush Sr. being helped on board and walking towards the tower. He looked kinda like a wet cat, glad to be alive of course. Although he was much younger you could still tell who he was.

Does anyone know the name of the boat that picked him up?

Richard Nixon served as a Navy supply officer in the South Pacific.

Lyndon Johnson won a silver star serving the Navy during the war.

Gerald Ford served as assistant navigator aboard the carrier USS Monterey, and during 'Halsey's Typhoon' (famous because of the book and movie The Caine Mutiny) Ford was instrumental in saving the ship from a catastrophic fire.

Jimmy Carter didn't serve in the war proper, but he was a cadet at the Naval Acadamy during the late war years, graduating in 1947.

I get the impression that Presidents who served in shooting wars tend to make better presidents than those who didn't. Obviously there are exceptions but by and large...
