Post your navyfield name next to your subsim forum name so other NF subsim players can easily find each other ingame, hopefully there will be a subsim fleet in NF.
Mine,
NF name=OWIHITMYKNEE or LAGGER123987, Subsim=Lagger123987.
Mainly in Missouri server, sometimes play on Azrizona or New York server while my clan high officals are not around.
Great idea, Lagger. :yep: I've retitled and stickied. -- NS

Eh, it could be worse. BB drivers normally tend to avoid shooting at small ships at long range since they're so small and hard to hit compared to other BBs.

Well my sinking was a result of a lucky Miss...I was floating close to an other BB
I'm new to this, and just wondering seeying repairing costs some...where is my Money/Point counter? or a screen where I can see my Account lvl, Exp etc

Repairs and ammo reloads are free for FF to CL. Once you get to CA, then you start paying.
The money/point counter is in the bottom right corner of your screen, two numbers that say CREDIT and POINT.
XP and account level are fairly ambiguous, most players use account level to refer to the level of the highest level BO that you own, since that's what determines which ships you can command; in general if you have more than one BO then they refer to them separately, but for most players that only have one BO, that's the one to look at.
You can see how much XP your BO has by holding your mouse over it. There's also a table for how much XP is needed in order to level up at each level at www.trainworld.us.
Repairs and ammo reloads are free for FF to CL. Once you get to CA, then you start paying.
Which sucks in my Hipper because half the time you lose which means you have to pay more to rep your ship then what you get in the battle.
Doesn't help I can't hit anything.
Starting to wish I'd gone with a nation a bit closer range.

One way to get credits at lower levels is by using AA, since that gives you bonus credits whenever you shoot down planes. Hell, doing that in an Emden practically guarantees free money, and is fun to boot.
And trust me, range is a lot more valuable than you think. For being touted as the "balanced" nation, USN has pretty much the shortest ranged ships in the game, and I've had to deal with that for 89 levels, that's why I started a KM line...
If accuracy is an issue, you can buy store items to improve the performance of your gunners. The items themselves are fairly cheap (2 bucks apiece) and can really help at low levels.

Kelvin I have a Kagero(?)DD and have upgraded to twin barrell turrets. my question is when selecting shells, do I click the single shell icon or the double? when I click double and go to battle it says no more ammo.
Also, is it advisable to put regular guns on instead of AA? This is my current approach. Instead of 2 main guns and 2 aa, i HAVE 4 DOUBE BARRELL TURRETS.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Those shell icons are for your ammo lockers. You have two lockers, A and B. When you select your A locker (which is the default one that you use when battle starts), your guns in your selected gun group (R or T) will all fire that ammo. You can switch lockers in the middle of battle (the Y key) and it'll take time to reload, but it offers you a lot of flexibility. For example, on battleship main guns, players fill their A locker with Light HE and their B locker with AP; so they'll normally fire explosive shells at their targets, but when they encounter an enemy that has enough armor to stop those shells, they switch to their B locker and use AP to break through.
As for your second question, my opinion is that it's never too early to learn how to AA, but for IJN there's the exception that their AA gunner class requires a bit of special classing. For now, stick with classing your main gunners normally (you should have two of them, one for forward R guns and one for rear R guns), and level your AA gunners after doing a bit of research on how they should be classed.

dude this game is very addicting. I ahve lost a lot of money on swapping guns to much and not understanding how the remodels and upgrades work, so im broke as a joke. But, lovin every minuite of this game.
I just got a lvl 23 gunner and when I promoted him I cant place him on my boat. So I dont have anyone qualified to shoot my lvl 23 aft guns. Is there a wait time before I can use him?
OMG this avatar is horrible, im gonna have to spam threads till I can get rid of it.

Play as xebec on New York server. Doing the KM line and currently play a Type II sub and CL Koenigsberg. Probably took 50 playing hours with a premium account to get there. This is actually my 2nd go at NF, lured back by the addition of subs. My first go was before US based servers, 4-5 years ago. When I stopped I gave away free all my ships, sailors, credits and points, over two million in value. Sure wish I had that back now :)

Or me...
If enough retired Navy Field sailors in subsim would contribute their earned points, credits and sailors to us, we would have sufficient game credits to start sub clans on all three US servers. Creating a clan cost dearly in game credits. We then could arrange battles for sub vs sub, sub vs DD or other combinations. Seems like I recall 200,000 credits but that may be dated info. We should also be able to make the grind to owning a sub easier for subsim clan members by providing funding for better sailors and purchases of better boats easier. Some may prefer to specialize in sub hunting with DD's and frigates. I have yet to see a serious sub hunter in the games with depth charges.
Any interest?

First, let me say that I'm no pro or expert, just a middling player.
Second, 200k credits is chump change. Seriously. If it's credits you're after, start a CV line (if you haven't already)...one can make 200k in two or three games in a CV, even a Bogue (which is much improved after the patch this week). It'll take some time (leveling pilots is a pain) but it's well worth it in the end.
Third, as for sub hunting, I have a Somers DD that is pretty lethal. You'll recall that Somers has 3 T-slots for DC racks, the most of any US DD. No sub can survive a good salvo with three DC drops. For the R slots, I mounted the twin 5" Mk38Ds and equipped AA along with HE, so when not sub hunting I can do AAW, and if a sub surfaces to avoid my DC damage (as any smart sub driver should), I can deal lots of damage with the guns. In my support slots I have a sonarman (obviously) and an engineer (in the 70s) to give me more speed to dodge torps and BB fire. My record with that setup was a little over 80k damage in one game, from 3 T2 sub kills and a DD or something, along with a few thousand credits worth of planes shot down.
Fourth, I'm already in a fleet, but good luck with your sub clan. ;)

I quit playing NF. I have a LV 38 sub skipper, a LV 42 CA skipper tons of gunners and two pilots, but my torpedoman is stuck at LV 33.
And I need a LV 38 to man my new sub...
Thatīs enough for me, and I donīt like the idea of wasting 893823 hs just to train a new torpedoman from scratch...

Thanks for that, but might try the anyway just to see what its like.
Have only played one round with my IJN Kaidai so no opinions yet. To offset the sub gains, stronger DC's were added yesterday too. Ship captains were hoping and expecting hedgehogs would be added but they were not. Still not many ASW players dropping DC's but more ships now have sonar and dodging ship torpedos is a challange.
I'm absolutly tired with my KM crew, I can't make money using it and they just aren't my style.
So if anybody wants to buy my KM crew(Hipper levelish mediocre skill spread, 2 gunners 2 AA gunners, a small handfull of support sailors and a couple spare level 30ish gunners) For like 200-300k Credits let me know, BO not included since you can't trade them.

Going down the UK sub line? Been there, subs are not what I expected, need like a high level sonar and planesman if I'm going to own GBs most of the time, have the UK SS2 Oberon on the NY server.
Going down the Uk sub line but am in desperate poverty with my Emerald, my BO is leveled up for the first sub but need another 2,000000:damn: I think for it. I'm goling to spend the money to upgrade my men when I have the sub.
I am going down a BB line, CV line, and SS line on the AZ server.
Can get a BB1 (but using the Seva instead)
At Northhampton on my CV line...
At O type on the SS line - 2 levels away from S type.
Slow grind...very slow...
Lord Kelvin
03-23-09, 10:09 PM
Trust me, once you hit S type, the grind really speeds up. Even though it still only has 4 forward tubes, it's a hell of a lot faster and you don't have to worry about reloads.
Got my S type...you are so right...now, my BO is only 2 levels away from Barracuda...but my torpers are a little behind, so it will be a while before I get out of this one...

03-29-09, 06:49 PM
The Barracuda trades off reload capability for stern tube capability. In sub duels (which I abhore and avoid whenever possible), it means that you have the ability to shoot past your opponent and blast them from behind; though they can do it to you as well as long as they aren't T1 subs. But the stern tubes do come in handy every now and then, like if you're getting chased.
Or when you get stupid and blow past a BB and he is smart enough to outturn you when you only have front tubes...
lol I embarassed myself on that one...all I had to do was kill the Yammy and my team one...and he was outta ammo...but alas, I could not do it...

Anyone bought the PCVs? If so how was it???
Rawr i am shadowscm on the arizona server. I like pcvs just for the fact that you get so much more attack off of them when you steamroll a team and are able to get one cornered

Woohoo, finally got into a Deutschland class panzerschiff, have to say, it is a pretty sweet ship.
Well, an update.
US - BB2 (Still)
US - CV4 (Still)
IJN - BB1 - though I still just play the Kita
IJN - SS2 - cannot wait to SS3.
KM - Emden - as a leveler
And on my other account
UK - Edinborough (running 2 different BOs so as to keep the gunners ahead of the game)
KM - Koenisburg (running 3 different BO's, 1 for SS line, 1 for CV line, 1 for Kaiser)

Just started playing again today.
Name: L3gion
Server: Missouri
Ships/Subs: SS1 U.S.
What else would I be besides a sub. If I was anything else I feel I would be betraying my username, and my sub enthusiasm. I will be on in about 30 minutes after some SH4.
Drogum and I'm on the Missouri server. Still just a lowly Cl captain in the KM, but fun game for sure. Happy Hunting

Hey Subsimmers,
I was considering giving this a try. Do they still do the Trial Accounts?

Hehe, nice Attacker there :yeah:
I considered that but put my British BO down the BB-lines instead. I also started a new KM BO for carriers but he's only at level 30, pilots being between 25 and 35, so a Seydlitz is far away still...
Oh and every account is free by default and allows you to play as much as you want without any kind of time limits, but there's also two kind of payed accounts with better exp, points and credit gain.
Salute to the brave pilots who fly Fairey Swordfish on the HMS Hallowicked.... your brave sacrifices ensure I get lots of credits and XP.:up:

Oh and a shout out to the Sea Gladiator pilots who throw your selves against scouts and emerge victorious and high level fighters and get yourselves utterly destroyed... :rotfl2:

Pros:
Gameplay is fantastic.
Crew and ship outfitting is great
60 vs 60 huge fleet battles
Free to Play
Cons
Playstation 1 graphics
Althought Free to Play, there are microtransactions plus some upselling for paid accounts.
Another Con: A lot of grind.
From my experiances thus far, for getting levels:
GB2 = EXP
Blitz = Cash..
Unfortunately you need both as you go on.
Also I wouldn't rate the graphics as a con, they may be outdated but they are done quite well...
Edit: Oh and I've decided to raise KM sub crew...

thank you for your replies.
For new players, learn how to do depth charge attacks early on, trust me... Watch where enemy subs head and head to their target area, dodge their torps and drop a salvo of charges right on them, boom you can get like 30k attack!
Just joined , ID is Refan if anyone wants to know.

My crew is around level 44, I got a County and I am on Yamato. Name is Biggunner101 so hit me up! Grinding to get a revenge :wah:. Also frustrated because I can't really use my guns, my BO's ability does not allow me to see the shells that far.

My fleet leader is giving me a complete level 50 RN CV crew when he gets back on, for now I converted my scout pilot for my BB to a Torpedo bomber, and he is a doing horrible lol. But it can hold me over until then :D.

Not that I know of. I used to play in a competitive fleet but after taking a 5~6 month hiatus and seeing how bad the quality of the players was I stopped playing. Still come on every once and a while though to meet up with my fleet mates.
Had a Super Yam half way to Amagi, a Hipper, Small AA ships on US side and Renown on UK side.

Edit: are there any game similar to it now? i'd love for a serious sim of that, like SH is for subs
