View Full Version : Is there an advantage to repair flooding on the surface?

Is there any advantage to repairing a water flooding damage condition while surfaced as opposed to the more typical stuation of repairing/pumping while deeply submerged?

I am only wondering of real life conditions on a sub for the moment. It seems to me that it is much more difficult to fight the flooding back while at depth since there would be considerable exterior pressures to work against. And, I have not had enough simulated experience to test it out in SH3 to know if it would help as an actual tactical advantage, or if it is even modeled. For obvious reasons being most likely DC-ed by the escort patrols as you are being damaged with flooded compartments.

Thanks for any opinions in advance.

Back in SH2, we had this. The deeper you'd go, the harder would be to stop the flooding. At a too big depth, it would become impossible to fix the flooding.

Shame we can't port this to sh3.

I sort of figured that flood recovery efficiency at depth or surfaced was not simulated in SH3. :shifty: It should be programmed for the matter of further realism.

I do agree with this point of view:yep:

This does sound like a belting idea for a new mod and one I would snap up immediately!! Unfortunately, I would bet a penny to a pound that the flooding rate is hard-coded and cant be changed without the SDK.:nope: Still, we can live in hope.;)
