Well, since Steed has disappeared, I've taken it upon myself to find my buddy Steed. I started with "black-helicopter" theories, that Steed's real name in Prince Harry and/or Prince William, maybe Princess Diana:hmm: , and he's on some sort of top secrect mission for the Crown, such as fighting terrorists in Afghanistan.

On a more realistic theory, If I were Steed, where would I disappear to???

On a side note, I went crabbing (while I was looking for Steed) yesterday. Crabber McBee and I caught our personal record of crabs. On my last pull, I had so many crabs in the ring, I could barely pull the ring out of the water!:o  We caught 16 crabs!

After 5 hours of crabbing, I can't even make it all the way on the bed.

Sweet, going to the beach at night..catching crabs, I loved doing that when I was younger.

So fun, they had these stores that sold fake crabs..but they looked so real and alive! Me & my father would dig a hole and put some seaweed and the crab in there and people would walk by and take pictures and try to touch it! It was so funny!
I saw these pretty 17-20 year old girls, I'd pick up the crab and they think it was real, chasing them down the beach and they'd scream.. ahh..the good ol' days

Oh..and I see that he died?

I have been reading this part of subsim in the last week and thought it has lost its edge a little. The reason this has happened I believe is Steed's departure.I miss his posts and I now have to look at the Daily mail website to get my news on how PM Brown is ruining my country.
If anybody is in touch with him can you ask him to come back asap!

I think you need better news sources

While I'm a bit surprised and saddened about STEED's alleged departure, I would note that, well... this HAS happened a few times before that I remember, and he always came back! Let the guy chill and get bored a bit, I guess.

Sorry to hear of your plight, but I will give you one clue - don't settle - biggest words of wisdom I can share ever.

You must also possess the appropriate mindset. If you think you are going to get crap, that is exactly what you will end up with - that is my second biggest words of wisdom I can share.

Last is - be humble, but at the same time, be cool to hang with - that is #3.

If you master those 3 things, the sky is the limit in this world. You will have the base tools to retire rich or poor based on them, with appropriate investments after the base is in place of course. Hopefully these ideas help you my friend.

Yeah, that was Niki:cry: . My other Boston, Rocky is the "new" crabber Mcbee. I think he caught enough crabs to earn his crabbing merit badge. He mainly sniffs the bait:o , chases seagulls, and barks at me to throw the crab ring.

I have a very glib tongue. I could be the world's greatest salesman. Only one problem, though: I hate selling and I loathe salesmen. There are a lot of ways I could get ahead, but every one I've tried I've found distasteful. Something to do with the selling of the soul. I had a friend whose wife was a doctor. At the time she died she was making a quarter-of-a-million dollars per year. I envied her her money and success, but I wouldn't want to be a doctor, so that's not an option.

The one time I try to give you praise I get a lecture and homilies.

I'm sorry, but I don't see you as humble. Cool to hang with? That remains to be seen.

And, you are the one that brought up your plight - I didn't. I tried to help, you rejected it.

And, I didn't say how humble I am, only where to apply it, but I do see your attitude is that of someone who rejects people and society and has the making of someone who is destined to be homeless forever. Suit yourself. You make the bed and you have to lie in it. I'll quit wasting my time on it.

I like how you twist things to make it look like my fault. Look in the mirror man. You are whom you made yourself to be.

When you enter someone elses environment who has been there long before you, you must pay them respect - that is the point.
Don't mistake this for my environment. I just hang out here. As for respect, I respect everyone's right to say what they think. You have succeeded in some areas where I have failed. I do respect that. In fact the only place I disagree with you is one which would be properly discussed in private.

And, you are the one that brought up your plight - I didn't. I tried to help, you rejected it.
But not because I wanted to talk about me or my problems - it was just a setup to express my esteem for your success.

And, I didn't say how humble I am, only where to apply it,
But it seems to me your comments are sometimes made from an assumption of rightness, never seeing that you might be wrong. That seems arrogant to me, so, if I was mistaken in my comments on humility, I apologize.

but I do see your attitude is that of someone who rejects people and society and has the making of someone who is destined to be homeless forever. Suit yourself. You make the bed and you have to lie in it. I'll quit wasting my time on it.
I don't reject people. In fact, people fascinate me. As for my status, you're right - it's my problem and I've never denied it, or, as you say, tried to shift blame. The only thing I blame you for is your own attitude when it comes to debate or argument. I just have a long history of problems with people whose style of debate comes from the sure conviction of 'rightness'. Any problem I express for you stems from that one perception.

I like how you twist things to make it look like my fault. Look in the mirror man. You are whom you made yourself to be.
Again you assume you are being attacked when someone disagrees. I gave you praise for once, and you told me how I could be more like you. Maybe you saw it as help, but I saw it as condescension.

Or maybe it's the problem with writing. One man's meat is another man's poison, one man's religion is another man's belly-laugh, and one man's help is another man's arrogance.

I don't claim to have any answers. I just question everything.

Steady on there, fellas, We're all more or less on the same page here...

Sailor steve: Don't you just hate temping? I know I do. Been doing that again for the last 12 weeks until I went to Canada for 10 days recently. Was assured I'd have a job to come back to by all concerned, seeing as they've know about this trip since the beginning. Guess what? Got back into the UK on monday last week, rang into the office to let people know I'm back but wouldn't be in to work that day due to flight delay etc jet lagg. 5 minutes later I get a call from the agency saying the company I was contracted to has no work for me. Good job I didn't spend much on 'holiday' (visiting her relatives for her grandads 90th birthday) as I'd have no cash for rent. As it is I'm unable to get some work on my car done as I now have to earmark that money for rent and other bills should I not get work in the immediate future.

Temping licks balls - low pay (for the most part) no security and no sick pay or benefits. Now isn't the best time to find work as a draughtsman here in the UK either. :nope:
I know companies can't be a success if they don't watch the books and all of that, but I just can't shake the feeling of being used every time I do temp work.

So sell something that you believe in Steve. I have similar views on sales and salesmen but when it comes to selling the school or my program to prospective students i find I don't mind doing it at all.

The agency I'm working for is mostly labor-type work, which isn't bad but I'm at the age where it's starting to be rough. They had a job for me lined up learning tech support, but at the last minute the company decided they didn't want to go through a temp agency. I spent the last week working graveyards at the local convention center moving chairs around. Easy work there, so I have no complaints.

I've got several full-time things I'm looking into, but can't really try for until I get back from Texas.

@ August: I've tried to find just that thing - something I like doing that actually makes money. Just haven't found it.
