Great when you don't have a wife or kids to get in the way.

You mean to break them:dead: :shifty: (or younger brothers). My "ex" got mad at me one time and took it out on a few of my models onetime.:x (My expensive eindecker was a casualty):x

I've done a 1/450 Akagi, but can't honestly remember whose it was. There can't be too many such kits around, though. I did mine roughly a decade ago. It was a relatively quick build and lacked detail (especially around the superstructure). I'd take pictures, but the finished product is currently in storage (trying to sell the house--not going well).

I really like Hasegawa kits, I did their 1/48 P40 Warhawk, best kit I've ever done. I find if it goes together really well, the finished product always looks fantastic. Same with Tamiya vehicles (not so keen on their planes). Hope you enjoy it mate.

Thats just cruel..:nope: I was about to say she didnt understand the love and devotion that has went on those kits, but then you realise, she probably did. Womens jealousy towards inanimate objects is something men have problems grasbing.

I just finished their (Hasegawa) 1/700 VIIC & IXC uboats and I was very surprised about the level of the detail they managed to put on these teeny-tiny models.
The original thread is here:

I can only imagine the quality of the models in the bigger scale.
Post some pictures when you start...

Nice work consus00  I like that size. How did you do the water ?

The water is actually shaped white caulk painted and dry-brushed with three different blue acrylics and white accents. All is coated in Hi-Gloss Varnish.

After digging a little on-line, I've determined that the 1:450 Akagi I have is not the Hasegawa kit here. The detail of the Hasegawa kit seems far better than the one I did, and I hope it comes together nicely.

My best ship is the 1:350 Enterprise done by Tamiya. It took me a year to do and is currently in storage  while we try to sell the house. I have a series of 1:350 ships (my favorite scale) and am eager to do more.

But I MUST do the 1:72 Gato that Neal got at the Subsim meet. I've located the kit at a local dealer ($90) but have promised to finish a 1:350 Titanic for my wife first.

I have to ask how you all do weathering effects. I've never really gotten the hang of that.

Thanks in advance.

Im Currently working on the starboard side of the ship at the moment.
Simply Placing platforms that hold anti-aircraft cannons and the stack which bends out of the side of the ship. Also 4 large supports which will hold the front of the flight deck:up:

So far it has been a rather enjoyable build. Every piece has fitted perfectly. Only problem, if you can call it a problem is the flash. Isn't much of a barrier though:lol:

Next will be the super structure of the carrier and assembly of the planes
