OK, Abrahamers and PC'ers, it's on now!

OK, so you know me, I'm a liberal, I like Muslims, I dislike all the attacks on them on this forum, and I've been naively thinking that The Muslim Threat is way overblown.

But -

- a short stroll away from my school there's Christi Krybbe elementary school (https://www.bergen.kommune.no/bk/multimedia/archive/00009/Christi_krybbe_skole_9644e.jpg). It lies in the midst of a 'Little Arabia' neighbourhood dominated by Muslim 'guest workers', and the student body is predominately Muslim (89% Muslim, 6% Christian, 7% nonbeliever/other, according to article). Now, the deal is that nearly all of the Muslim girls wear hijabs, the traditional head garment wore by many Muslims around the world.

Now, what makes my blood boil is that the faculty just passed a new rule which for the sake of political correctness requires every female student and faculty member on the school to wear a hijab. That's right, not only ever Muslim girl, every girl - Christian, atheist or otherwise. Lest the Islamic students, who make up the majority of the student body, will feel alienated. You read that right - the Muslim students, who comprise nine out of ten of the student body and mostly speak Arabic tongues and English on campus, could feel alienated. Wearing head garments, the faculty spouts, will also dampen physical appearance and improve the self-esteem of the students. They refer to positive studies on the wearing of such garments and, are you ready, the success of school uniforms in foreign schools, as evidence that students will be happier wearing hijabs while on campus. It's an "excellent example of how we Norwegians can learn from foreign cultures and integrate their values into our society", according to the principal of the school, Bjarte Somethingorother.

And the worst part? This is being ignored. You won't find articles locally or abroad about this - Bergens Tidende, a Bergensian newspaper known for printing human rights stories, ran it on the front page, but few others picked up on it, and the ones who did turned it into a kind of humorous item, which was then laughed at and forgotten about by the readers. People don't care. That students are being forced to wear garments of other religions against their will simply doesn't bother my countrymen. One of my teachers even had the nerve to call my stance ethno-centric and racist when I brought it up in class, saying that this is no different from how non-Christian students are forced to say a Christian prayer before lunch in public schools along with the Christians, unless they bring a note from their parents. Well, let's see - maybe it's different because the students at Christi Krybbe are students of a Norwegian school? Because they can't bring notes from home to be excempted because the hijabs are "dress code"? Because they risk day-long suspension if they fail to show up wearing something to cover up their hair:roll:?

Is it just me, or is this Muslim-friendly PC gone mad?

Not really, since this way of taking over a culture is what I warn off since years, and so it is not new to me. Nowhere I said that islamic terrorism is a real thread to the West. the smiling enforcing of Islamic rules from inside hosting nations - this is the danger, and it is far more difficult to be repelled, since many people still do not even see a need to do so, and welcome it under their wrong percpetions of tolerance and multi-culti - which exmaples like this of course are not, but right the opposite.

Long live our reasonable, civilised and self-restrained temper. We even face our unneeded cultural suicide with discipline, and a smile on our face. Aren't we fantastic.

I would fight on the grounds that it is in breech of civil rights, that there should be a choice, as they have no right to force you to do something that is not in common law.

while not all muslims necessarily think in this train of thought, they are quiet - its the vocal minority who intend on eliminating the dilemma of facing it outside of school by taking over to the extent where there will be no women uncovered.

From an Islamic theological view the wearing of hijabs, headscarves, niqabs, burkas and the like are not fard (compulsory). At the end of the day it is and should be a choice for any woman.

This "school policy" is just utter rubbish and an example of total stupidity. :damn:

Abraham was member and moderator in this community until he - retired, let's put it that way. He was known for taking defense of islam in the West, for principal reasons, and to talk down the problems, afgain: for principal reasons. This I mean as no late attack against him, but that simply is, what he did.

Be careful before messing with that reputation of his in this forum, he enjoyed many sympathies and respect here, and there are still many people around who remember him. That includes me, although we had some really messy collisions once or twice.

PC will be the downfall of western civilization. I think it's time for the people of your country to stand up to this madness. Does your country follow it's laws, or foreign laws? And if the foreigners don't like it, they can leave. They can go home.

This is what bothers me and it could be any group, but it happens to be them. It is true, it was all over the press. The people who deal with integration of immigrants stated that there are more whining from muslims than the other religious groups combined, and that from now on there is no more mister nice guy.

The problem is that the west is so afraid of being stamped as racist that *insert religion/country* get away with alot of crap. This seems to be changing, or at least until i read the first post in this thread. I am from Norway, and have never heard about that school in Bergen.

Some people over at the JREF forums made a thread on how easy it was to get people to buy into hoaxes and conspiracy theories with little to no evidence (the latter being the case here). I just had to try for myself;).

And again, with our barbaric drinking culture, an alcohol-free day would almost be welcomed by me.

I am from Norway, and have never heard about that school in Bergen.While the story was a hoax, the school exists. I picked it to add some outrage to the story (a school named after Christ having Islam forced down its throat:D ). It does not, however, have an 80+% Muslim student body, nor is it in a neighborhood where everyone is a Muslim, if such a neighborhood even exists in Bergen:).
