:D Hi everyone
Tuesday this week I should do a uninstall of my SH3, I was cleaning up the pc
I deleted the folder in "my documents" , and I used the "regedit".
I uninstall the SH3 and reboot the pc.
Just when the pc should start up again, black screen ,and a line said :"windows system32 error" push button "r" to restore":o
I thought this must be wrong so I restarted my pc again , nooo the same line:damn:
I went in to the boot menu , nooo the same:damn: I remember thinking
"Oh my God all my files"!
No matter what I did , the same line showed up :stare:
Ok,suddently I realized I must do a total restoring of XP.
All my files I lost, and my special folder
containing my mods is lost,everything:damn:
So the whole tuesday, and the whole wednesday, and the whole thursday went
when the clock passed half past seven in the afternoon I was finish doing the restoring. You know all of those updates takes time:dead:
So something I did wrong but what:o
I should only reinstall the game .
But now I know it was good it happened because I have a lot more faster pc then I had before:) But thinking of all those files I missed , and not did a backup:dead: :dead:
But my "new" game is running smoothly, and I'm on my way to a new patrol in sept 1939 :

I feel for you!!
Really!! I do!!
Today I was moveing files off my Dev system.
Before I was done, i installed some new software.
On rebooting?
BSOD!!!
No matter what I tried?
BSOD!!
Several hours into recovery now.
:nope:

Dang, I'm sorry to hear that.

Some advice for the future: get a backup drive. If that's to expensive, do what I did - get a cheap Flash drive. I have a 4-GB one that I save all my work and game files on.

In my case, it was just plain stupid of me.
:nope:
I had nearly all the things I wanted backed up to another system.
I only left the most important stuff for last.
As I had some new C++ stuff to work on?
I decided to upgrade some software.
Bad move.
VERY Bad MOVE!!
:damn:

3 hours into recovery now and I just hit 30% recovery of OS
That means all my data will be there.
But all programs I had installed will be gone!!

:D Hi guys
yeah I feeling sorry for you:-?
But something I must do wrong that day.
I remember I was into regedit because when I should do this reinstall ,
I should remove the "nhancer" too I use that I have NVIDIA card
I think I removed something call "windows enhance" or something
It is the first time in my life I do a total restoring I never done that before
so something I must do right:smug:

I usually do a complete reinstall once a year.
I pushed it to a year and a half this time.
:nope:
I was going to remove critical files and do a wipe and re-install.
But I got greedy and wanted to test some new code.
My bad.

As long as I can recover the Data files I'm happy.
The programs need re-installed anyway.
After all the installs and uninstalls I've done over a year and a half?
Only a fresh OS install will fix things.

:D I am crazy!
I love to explore the system and all of those lovely programs:cool:
you know when you are 45 years old (like me)the brain is slower than you are when you're in the early twenties  so I am just a beginner when it becomes to data.
But it's interesting.
I can't help it.:rotfl:

But I've been doing computer stuff since the late 70's.
So I should know better!!
:damn:
Oh well.
It's been a few years since something like this has happened to me.
Just got a bit cocky I guess.

:D I've read the newspaper this morning and I read this:
The passangers on an commercial airliner had to push the plane.
And the plane ticket said nothing about that:cool:
Maybe we should do this to trim our braines and body :
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Truthfully?

Since Service Pack 2, XP has been the most stable OS from
Microsoft.
Service pack 3 was even better!

Any Server product is not what you want for home use.
Unless you run several systems as I do.
I have 1 Server.
It controls my in-house Domain.
All other systems look to it for things.
If you have 1 system?
Do not use a Server Edition.
It's needless for that role.
Vista, I don't like.
I was a Beta tester for that.
Also tested the Release Candidates.
And Microsoft started supporting XP again after Vista was out!
What does that tell you?

Those looser far outnumber the tech enthusiasts with solid knowledge of their tools. Their motto is:

"I stick to the old stuff which has worked in the past, no need to learn how to use the new stuff in the right way".

Thats why xp is still the chosen OS in most business. The employees are too lazy to adjust. Same was with 2000 to xp.

I used all windows versions starting with 3.1 in '90 (as emulation in OS2 warp) as soon as a sp1 was available.
