I know the subway simulation the developer has released for MS Train Simulation. It was quite good. I recognized the stations I knew from my time in Berlin easily, they also implemented a 1:1 copy of the female computer announcer they use in reality.
The visuals look clearly superior to those of Berlin Subway.
And yes, Lance, they make Train Sims. Since over 12 years  There already were train sims before Microsoft took on it 8 or 9 years ago. especially Germany is being covered wioth projects to simulate this or that regional track. You can travel all general regions of Germany in simulated railway. Also Berlin in the 20s. Also trains of the past, and Diesel and steam locomotives from before eletrification of all tracks.

I guess they have bad marketing, but I just typed "train sim" into google and there are quite a few of them.
I should have guessed they would make them for all the railfans.
Still, it seems a bit odd to buy a train simulator when I already drive trains for a living:hmm:

Train simulators are only for those people with one track minds. :yep:
Train simulators are only for those people with one track minds. :yep:
One track mind is not a requirement as the simulator provides the track.
0 track mind - 1 track simulator.

Actually, I take my train sim twice or three times a year for a run, and then - it is very relaxing. Believe me or not, but it is pure chill-out and lets your mind travel with your imagination while moving through the landscape and halt at the stations.
It does not compare to Flightsims, for example, but you still need to pay attention to some things, speed limitis, signals, etc. If all aids are shut off, you drive by route book and track distance markers to learn your speed limits. And then to keep your timing and start braking right in time so that the train matches the station's length nicely for passengers to use ALL doors and not just the last three of them :) needs concentration.
So, speak friendly of Train Simulator. Life already is tough enough! :yep:
I've had an eye on this one for some time and I'll certainly be watching it, and I might well get it, however I will DEFINATELY get the London Underground one they are planning to do, particularly if it does the District
I'm with Skybird, I take out the Trainsim quite often and have a drive about, and some of the timings are so tight and the stations so close together that you've got a hard time to keep to time. Particularly in Making Tracks London and South East
Also recommended, particularly for UK underground routes is BVE, currently on its 4th version and with cab sway and excellant sounds, WOS will blow it out of the water, but you don't have to pay anything for BVE ;)

I think I will get a train simulator but probably not that one. I enjoy seeing the countryside go by. Those tunnels are apt to give me vertigo:doh:

Wow! I rode that PATH line every work day for eight years and those screen shots are dead on accurate.

Wow! I take the PATH fairly regularly and those shots are uncanny. Needs some transvestite hookers and babbling crack-heads for true realism though. Oh, and urine puddles! Need plenty of urine puddles!

It is planned to be the start of the series. Rumoured future parts are Moscow (!), and Paris.
I desperately wait for a subway simulation of Line 9 and 7 of the Berlin BVG. :D Line 2 I already got with "Berlin Subways", including stations Zoologischer Garten and Wittenbergplatz. :D
