Yea cool, I read about this ages ago was a F-15D variant. I noticed the narrator called it the Hen but that is the E strike eagle version and AFAIK Israel didn't have them at that time.

See that's what bugged me about the presentation of it with the history channel is that it is over dramatised with THAT narrator and his voice. Also the end of the clip says "the dreaded MiG-25". Well I'm not sure but I think at that point the US knew how it would perform against the Mig-25

They didn't know at this point. The first MiG-25 would land in Japan shortly after this incident. Then its hyped up BS would be known to the world.

This is probably the closest they have come to finding out:

Great story, great flying, great airplane.

On the other hand, as usual the History Channel stuffs it with BS. He's describing the collision with an A-4, and they're showing us stock footage of an old F-100. They do that a lot, I guess hoping no one will notice.

This incident happened in 1983 the Mig-25 that defected came over in 1976 so by that time the US and other operators of the F-15 knew the limitations and true purpose of the Mig-25. Pretty damn sure the Israelis would have been given the take on the Mig-25 damn quickly.

That's what bugs me about History channel and UK TV History documentaries...stuff where there are easily verifiable facts...

I used to take part in the old Warships1 (now NavWeaps) boards, and a lot of the conversations there centered around the latest History Channel shows and what they got wrong. There were always comments similar to mine in the 'Frustrating Writers' thread: "I'm afraid to watch their shows on subjects I know nothing about; afraid I'll pick up a lot of bad information."
