View Full Version : Brigade E5, successor to Jagged Alliance?
Just spotted this by accident, developed company called Apeiron and published by the IL2 makers, 1C.
Seems to be heavily influenced by Jagged Alliance. :hmm: Anyone have tried it yet?

Ive only got one thing to say "STAY AWAY"!!!!! , it's absolute garbage.I tried the demo and ended up deleting it after less than 10 minutes:nope: - the only thing its got in common with Jagged Alliance is the marketing people saying its a successor to it.
Do a Google search for reviews for it and they all say the same thing , its crap , to give you an idea , alot of the translation from Russian to English hasn't been done properly so your trying to talk to someone and you get Russian sentences mixed with English.
If you want something like Jagged Alliance 2 then buy the JA2 gold pack from Strategyfirst then download this http://ja2v113.pbwiki.com/ I bought JA2gold a few weeks back , added the 1.13 mod and its a compleatly new game
Ah, ok. Too bad, JA needs a new game to bring it to today's standards. I'll give that mod a try.

I was ridiculed at places that should know, so I really don't think you'd get a lot of fun out of it.
Does anyone here have played JA2 Wildfire? Some days ago I saw a copy in a game shop. I think it might be worth getting it because 1 year ago I bought JA2 for 99 Eurocent and had a blast with it.
I didnt like Wildfire that much. JA2 original all the way.

Thanks. No need to spend more if I already paid a Euro for the original.
Wildfire is mod that grew to a marketed add-on. But it's buggy as hell. :-?

I have not played BE5 far till now. To the first town or so.. But I can still recommend it, if you really like this kind of tactical turn-combat games and if you can get it CHEAP (!!!).
It is this typical russian style of game development. Really great ideas and lots of details but never finished to make a running product. BE5 has one of the best and most detailed tactical turn-combat sytem I have seen.
Another infamous game from this genre is Alfa Antiterror: Advanced War Tactics.
It's a kind of 3d-Jagged Alliance (it's actually from the makers of JA-3D). But with russian alpha-commandos in Tchechnia (!!!11). The german version that I own, was never really finished, no patch and lot of bugs. The controls is a pain. Nothing to recommmend.
But I still love this game. It is so friggin DIFFICULT, you won't belief it. Kind of the Wizardry IV - Return of Werdna of tactical turn combat games. You HAVE to save after every turn and reload till you get a good result to play on with. And the whole setting is so anti political correct in an facinating way. The maps are really 'beautiful'. It brings this feeling of fighting a dirty forgotten war with no rules...
It even had multiplayer deatmmatch and team deathmatch per hotseat/lan/and pbem if I remember correct. Found never someone to try it out...I still have it on my drive and can play it right away, it needs no disc and is not that large.
So both games are not a recommention for someone who seeks a good playable game to enjoy and have fun with. It's a recommention for real fans/freaks of this genre to make their collection complete. You need a serious amount of masochistic patience to get something out of this beauties:
