Body exhumed in fight against flu


The body of an aristocrat who died nearly 90 years ago has been exhumed in the hope that it will help scientists combat a future flu pandemic.
Yorkshire landowner Sir Mark Sykes died in France in 1919 from Spanish flu. Sir Mark was buried in a lead coffin which scientists hope may have helped preserve the virus.

It's not about meat, it is about the virus. Handling it is not more and not less dangerous than handling Ebola or some biological weapons in an isolated Cat-5 biological security laboratory. If the virus is still there (which is absolutely possible, since these nasty suckers are really good at "surviving") it makes much sense to put it under the magnifier to see what it is made of.

The great pandemic will come. the question is not if, but when. And due to modern transportation, it will be a real nasty mess if we are not prepared for it. so what they are doing in no way is a foolish act.
