Fantastic.
Red alert 1 was great fun and a real gem.
I don't know what to think about red alert 3 though. I guess its just old age creeping up but i just don't see any appeal in make believe games anymore. For me a interesting game nowa days is one that has historical accuracy as its backbone. Games like silent hunter, total war etc all try to stick to accuracy (to a certain extent) and dont add stray too far into the relms of fantasy.
Red alert of course is all about this sorta thing and i had no problem with that in red alert 1,2. Transforming robots and futuristic ninjas fighting spider tanks and bears however.... :o :rotfl:

The free RA1 available for download is the Win95 version. I was hoping it would have been the updated The First Decade version. You still have to use the same measures to get this RA1 to work on a current PC as you would if you had the original RA1 disc. I downloaded the free RA1 before I found that out. I still have the original RA1 discs with the Aftermath expansion. I haven't played RA1 in years. If anyone don't have it, I highly recommend it!
Yeh it's the win95 version but it works ok on XP if you just remember to run the install setup & the game itself in win95 compatibility mode.

Don't you have to disable your antivirus software to run the game? I bought the C&C Collection edition, which has Red Alert 2, but never bothered to install any of the games after finding out that was a requirement.

Havent heard anything like that. I'm using Avira AV with SyGate firewall and have no problems playing it.

Hehe this is a great laugh and brings back some great memories ;)
Does anyone know what sort of units the Russians and Allies will have in RA3?
Will it be sticking to the same sort of pattern as RA2 or will both sides be completely redone?
Also any idea if the weather machine is making a return for the Allies
