This is a direct quote from Obama in 1995 from an article done by the Chicago Reader, about financing his senate campaign:
"I want to do this as much as I can from the grass-roots level, raising as much money for the campaign as possible at coffees, connecting directly with voters," said Obama. "But to organize this district I must get known. And this costs money. I admit that in this transitional period, before I'm known in the district, I'm going to have to rely on some contributions from wealthy people--people who like my ideas but who won't attach strings. This is not ideal, but it is a problem encountered by everyone in their first campaign.
"Once elected, once I'm known, I won't need that kind of money, just as Harold Washington, once he was elected and known, did not need to raise and spend money to get the black vote."
Emphasis added by me.

You know what they say, money can't buy happiness. I think Obama is becoming a very sad puppy.

There is no such thing as a 'free lunch'.
One day his financial backers will want some sort of consideration from him in return.

I think McCain is getting desperate- the Palin Gambit has fizzled and will die soon. All that it gained the Republican Party was parity in September- now the trend will be for Obama till election day.
The $66,000,000.00 that Obama raised in August is a direct result of how the Palin selection had it's very real risks and negatives for the McCain Ticket. This is money from average Americans- not from Corporate America. This money represents donations from Americans from coast to coast are throwing their lot, and the promise of a better America squarely on Obama's side.
The Democratic Party is absolutely energized and the Palin "celebrity" is headed for the rocks where it is in real danger of breaking up.
That's the problem with big gambles- McCain and the Republicans are scrambling like rats on a sinking ship trying to plug as many holes as they can but they just can't stop the flooding- and Palin has done even more damage as we all expected she would just as soon as she opened her mouth to answer real questions u=instead of simply repeating a "prepared" speech ad nauseum.
Some of her best gaffs after just one interview:
1: Does not have a clue of what the Bush Doctrine really is.
2: Stated that we would "have to back up" Israel if that country launched a pre-emptive strike against Iran. (Makes it even more amazing that she did not know what the Bush Doctrine even was.)
3: Did not know that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were not taxpayer supported entities. That is until the government "take over" was announced! A take over that will "protect" big investors but do nothing for small investors or current home owners in danger of their own default.
4: Supports the membership of the Ukraine and Georgia in NATO while not understanding the affect of such membership on Russian Policy or our own "absolute" commitments to all NATO member states- NATO is a MILITARY ALLIANCE, not an ECONOMIC ALLIANCE.
5: Stated that because you can actually "see" Russia from Alaska that that made her somehow an expert of Russian Relations. Kind of like me saying that because I can see a branch office of US Bank as I drive by that I am an economic expert. That was really just too dumb for even her to throw out there as a form of credibility fishing.I could go on, obviously- but when you add her ONE interview... and it's many gaffs to the self inflicted damage that her lying has created as it relates to ear marks and the rapidly expanding trooper gate scandal... yes- it has reached the scandal level- her viability as a real candidate for VP is in danger of collapse.
The first example of McCain's decision making process if he were actually elected and he has made a mess of it.
Time for a change- REAL CHANGE- time to elect Barack Obama as President of the United States of America! Obama can only be thrilled at the continued and growing support that he has EARNED among the American People.

I don't think Palin said this. I believe it was said about her.
Got a citation where she said this? I may have missed it.

As the debates come I predict McCain will make Obama look like a school boy. Palin will make Biden look like the sterotypical politician that he is and the GOP's number will continue to climb as they have been since the GOP convention. Notice the flip floppiin going on with regards to drilling that the Dems were staunchly against? SOS different day...:hmm:

That quote is from Saturday Night Live and is a parody of the Charlie Gibson interview

Also, the Mccain campaign has been implying that the whole Alaska being close to Russia gives Palin foreign policy experience from the start. I don't think that is important as the fact that Mccain/Palin are just copying Barack Obama's campagin because they know people wont vote for Bush. They say Mccain is a Maverick when he votes with Bush the majority of the time. They say Palin fought her own party (lol republicans are both the good and bad guys? lul) but she was FOR the bridge to no where, took the money, then when it became a big media debocle she voted against it but kept all the 20 some odd million dollars.
Sound familar? lol the Republican party was all over John Kerry for being a "Flip-Flopper" and they even went so far as to attack his war experience. Not only that but I remember a time when John Mccain's war-experience was being shat on by the Republicans.
The Campbell Interview where Tucker Bounds has problems talking about Palin's experience. The second and third are links to articles about the bridge to no where, and the fourth is a FOX NEWS!!!11one interview where they attack Palin's stance on the bridge to no where. Last is yet another video about that lie. Need moar references? lolz
