Looking outside, the wind is still pretty strong and the rain has turned into light showers. On a more serious note, my town will be directly in the eye of the Hurricane Ike eventually.

Fellas, it's been a long ride and a fun ride. We've shared laughs, tears, stories, and so much more over the years. Ever since I came here on that cold November day (almost two years ago now), I had a sense of belonging. It's in jeopardy.

I know some of you already know this, but I did not evacuate the area. I've lived in this house for too long and have too many things here that I hold precious. I refused to leave them, I will not leave them, and that will be that. In the past, I've held out against other hurricanes in the area, but Ike is indeed becoming quite severe and it is unfortunately going to hover over Houston and my town.

With that said, I am afraid that I won't be able to make it through this one. I've been looking over the maps, watching countless videos, and plotting out scenarios, but it seems fairly pointless now. There is a very real possibility that I will sustain some sort of injury or die, and I want to make sure everyone can come to terms with that. We've had grim surprises in the past with members, and I don't think we need another one. With that in mind, I want everyone to know that if anything does happen, I've given specific instructions to my brother to inform you of the circumstances (on September 19th at EXACTLY 5 p.m.).

In conclusion, this will be my last post until the storm passes. I hope that I will return to keep up with it all, but I cannot guarantee a thing. I will be logging out until then.

Take care, all of you. Neal, good luck with the site. Mods, good luck maintaining the site. Until next time, fellow Subsimmers. And do me a favor, be strong and safe. Most of all, be brave.

Cheers.;)

*EDIT*: Nice chart, Sub, but I live in Goodrich...

I sincerely wish you good luck, and I trust that you do know where you stand in regard to geography and topography. The folks in the orange area (and to the SE of that orange line ) below will be floating away. Rescue efforts for this one should be much better than Katrina, although that's no comfort if you are stranded on a roof for one day or even one hour. Please do not shoot guns at helicopters attempting to rescue you. We look forward to your next "alive and wet" post!

Just talked to Dad in Garland. They were forcasting 6 inches, which is now 1, with windspeeds of 45 mph.

The tornados are forcasted to the east of the storm once it gets a good run on land.

Hope you were bunkered in Stealth...
