View Full Version : My Saddest moment

Sometime in the early morning hours of January 22nd, 1958
A Son was born to Carol Jean and Robert Reid Groves.

He was the first born of 3 children this determined couple would have.

Over the years, Carol taught him to explore books, the arts,
and to harbor a love for all.
To trust first.
Ask questions later.

Robert taught him mechanical skills.
And how to approach things in an analitical way.
And to always take care of the family first.

Over the many years,
He was both a major disappointment,
and a major point of pride to both.

But they always loved him.
No matter what?
They Loved him for who he was.

It's with tears in my eyes that I type this.
My mother, Carol, is not going to make it
through the nite.

It's been a long illness and this outcome was expected.
But it is never easy when faced with the stark reality of life.

As I do not get along with my Brother and Sister?
I decided not to stay till Mom passes.

Dad understands that I must deal with this in my own way.

I only post this here because of the many friends I have made here.
Steve and his Sheep,
VonDos and his Ships,
And all you other slackers.

You are all friends I can depend on.
You guys need to take a bow!!!

So I got a GrandSon this weekend,
and lost a Mother.

Life is so weird at times.
:nope:

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. Your family will be in my thoughts. Stay strong. Be sure to keep hold of the happy memories to be able to tell your grandson.

My mother went through life threatening surgery a few weeks ago and it just tore me apart. She made it, but it really made it clear to me that I night not be able to handle the worst when it comes.

I wish I could be there to talk about it with you. My mom disappeared several years ago, just moved away without leaving a forwarding address, and I haven't been able to find her. My dad is 80, and I talk to him fairly regularly, but he has Parkinson's and is not the man he used to be, and it's only a matter of time. My sister and I get along quite well, but my brother refuses to speak to me, as do both of my daughters.

Not trying to outdo you in the downer department, just saying that I sympathize, empathize and understand. And I really do wish we could sit down and talk.

Steve,
You are always welcome to PM me.
In many ways?
I'd love to have a one on one with you.

I know many have sadder or the same situations?
But I guess with all the people I try to help here
I owe them the truth.

And I thank you all for the well wishes.
Believe me, I do!

My thoughts and prayers are with you, your mother, and your family, Privateer. My mother passed away in 1991 after a long illness, so I know a little how you feel. It is very hard to lose a parent, no matter what the circumstances. Take care.

Sorry to hear of your mothers pending passing. Both of my parents are gone, so I have some idea what you are going through. Yes, it is funny how life works sometimes, you gain a grandson and lose a mother.

What can I say that has not already been said. I've yet to lose a parent, but I can imagine how terrible such a thing must be.

But look on the bright side. Whereas time will lessen the pain of your loss, it will only magnify the joy of having your grandson in your life.

Best wishes to you, and I hope your relationship with your brother and sister will improve.

You'll be in my prayers tonight,

-the Lance

Congratulations on the grandson. I'm really sorry to hear about your mother. I lost my mom & dad within 3 weeks of each other back in 2004 and I know that it's no easy thing to lose family members, especially parents. Hopefully you can gain some comfort in the knowledge that she's at peace & that she will always live on in your memory and in your heart.
