I am playing SH3 with GWX 2.1 addon. In career mode it is absolutely fantastic, but twice now when I have tried to play single missions, my whole computer has crashed, wih a critical error message, and when I restart my computer I get a message saying that windows has recovered from a serious error. Has anyone else had the same problem? I cannot say preisely what caused it except it was a .dll file.

Try the below Q&A link under CTD's. There are
lots of answers.

Take a screenshot of the error message and post it.

Have you added any 3rd party mods to your installation :hmm:

No third party mods, just GWX to 2.1. Like I say, everything works OK, it only crashes to a screen that tells me to reboot, not a CTD, when I have played a single player mission. I will now go and play single player mision and see if I can get the same thing to happen. I sent the error mssage to microsoft and they replied that it was something in a program that my laptop didn't have the necessary driver for. I'll get back to you ASAP

Rgr that http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/9026/wolfthumbsuprw5.gif (http://imageshack.us)

It could well be a driver problem though, or perhaps a mismatch of CFG files somewhere.

before I had chance to play a mission, I checked for windows updates, and was advised to install SP3. I did this, and played several single missions with now problem. I don't know if that was the issue, but all seems to work now, so I ain't complaining.

I highly recommend SP3 for XP!!
I am, and have been a tester for Microsoft
for over 16 years.
GWX 2.0 and 2.1 were tested under SP3 before SP3 was released!!
2.0 and 2.1 were also tested under PRE SP3 conditions!
If there is a problem anywhere?
It's not a Service Pack nor Pre-Service pack problem.
