I'm very picky when it comes to shooters. But this one looks like a winner for me.

Band in many major countries for being too damb scary..

Well I was thinking of getting STALKER CS but now this one is the winner. Holy crap its good.

Looks cool.

Am I the only one who HATES that 'over the shoulder and to the side' view? Seems like more and more games are using it.

Maybe you can change it ingame? Looking at many vids from youtube it wouldn't be a good idea? You have to see what is munching on your spine when those little thingies are chowing on ya... :D

Return to Castle Wolfenstein - I never get bored of that game! It's been quite a long time, but something tells me I'll be reloading it this weekend.

EA so it will probably have DRM crammed up the ass.

Also, is it going to have a linear story?

I don't mind third person, but I prefer it behind the player or above. That is, I prefer it positioned in such a way that I get a good even look at what's around myself. The 'back and to the side' view makes me feel disoriented. I feel like I have trouble seeing what's to my characters other side with that view. I was playing The Witcher earlier this year and it had different views, but defaulted to the 'back and to the side' view. I found myself constantly switching that view to either side to get a better look at whats to my other side.

Really, I just don't get why this kind of view was implemented in the first place. It's a personal thing for me. Like I said, I find it disorienting. It feels odd having my character on one side of the screen with my view on the other. It's like some weirdo compromise between the level view of first person and the, the.....well I dunno. The advantage to third person should be to have a better look at your surroundings, but the 'back and to the side' 3rd person view just doesn't do that imo.

Perhaps this belongs in that game rant thread...

btw I have never seen anybody else complain about that kind of view. I must be weird

I got so annoyed with Doom 3 that I never finished it. I was also going to buy STALKER but think I'll hold out for Dead SpaceWB get orginal stalker release. You can get it for less than $20 bucks. Also the mod community is strong. I'm a member and help build Oblivion lost 2.2 and now working on other mods addons. There are a lot of cool uber mods that make the game now amazing. I'd suggest you play Stalker vanilla once and then try the various mods out there.

Don't waist you money on Stalker Clear sky. yes nice graphic but its plagued on bugs and its a fraction of the original game SHOC ideals. Dead space look very cool too.:yep:

If I want a linear story... I'L READ AN EFFING BOOK.It's no different than watching a movie with you having control over the outcome. Many good games like this. Much more engrossing than any movie too.

But let me guess, you don't like movies and you would rather read an EFFING BOOK! :p :D

If I want a linear story... I'L READ AN EFFING BOOK.I only like a linear story if it is good. Reason I like Stalker SHOC because with mods its a freeplay game and the story is interesting.

Dead space has promis. There still time before its release. Not many game companies boast an earlier release date for a game these days. I always hear delays... Something to think about...

Except you don't have control over the outcome, you either complete the storyline in the exact way or you turn off the game. Its stupid and boring.

I just hate being unable to play the way I want to.

Word.

You ever play Morrowind or Oblivion? Or perhaps some other open ended game?

I find that I never complete or even touch the main story/quest to a game if it lets me do what I want (not a bad thing). Off the top of my head, I never finished the main quest for Morrowind, Oblivion, and I never did the revenge thing and finish the Sid Meier's Pirates! game. God I can't think of any other open ended games right now, but I'll bet I never finished the main story/quest to any open ended game. I love that.

It's just so awesome to do what you want to do. Pirates! really is a marvel. Open ended with so much to do and yet ridiculously simple.

@ Rilder I think your right about DRM if they did it like MEPC then I'm not going to invest in it... All I need is EA cramming my computer every 10 days. Hell no dude.

I'm waiting to see there answer about DRM for DSPC.:-?

Today was a busy day for me. I and my wife went to see my daughter's play in KIA christmas specials at her school. Later did some shopping.

I said to my wife I'm going to treat myself. I was in the mood to buy Fallout 3 since now many mods are out that give back the old Fallout feeling. Their not perfect but getting their. Won't be long till they nailed it right for my tastes like child killing with proper animations, Balanced weapons, armors and equipment. Newer stuff.

New environmental mods, etc... So-on.

I headed to futureshop to see if they had in stock. I was so happy to see 2 boxes left. I picked one payed it and left home.

Open the box just load the dvd and its all french. No where I live its suppose to be bilingual. I don't mind french but I want to play my games in english which this one had no indication on the box saying french only.

So I put the DVD back and headed to futurshop for an exchange. I'm thinking if they don't have english in stock I will have to go to bestbuy or EBGames which is a little drive.

At the counter showing the woman the box she tells me we can't refund it or accept it. Hmmmm Is only 20min old? I just bought it and I would like to exchange it to an english version if possible or refund.

She tells me go to the game section we should have english. I go and no they didn't the guy there told me we have to get a refund. Little did he know they don't do that because of copy write issues. Go figure.

Can you imagine this. What if the DVD was defective? Anyways I was getting angery and told both of them there's going to be a refund or an exhange.

She got scared and he almosted peed himself and left.

She wispered into my ear and said ok ok. Pick another game. Well give you credit for difference.

I smiled and when to buy Dead space. plus the animated cheezy movie.

I told her I didn't us the Serial key for the FO3 game so its still good. She said its going into the garbage because of copywrite issues.

I went home installed DSPC and it is awesome game. No patches needed. Game runs smooth as a babys butt.

totally amazing graphics with all maxed out.. See for your self.

Well I must say kick ass game.

I love ripping the enemies appart piece by piece. The controls where alittle wacki at first but now I have it.

I hate going around corners or openning doors because christ their fast...

Best game of the year.

I guess FO3 will wait...:sunny:

I think Fallout 3 has more replayability and is more captivating than Dead Space, but thats just my opinion.

I like the third person perspective because it means you can see the aliens(?) ripping in to you and stuff. But it makes the game incredibly scary at times. I always shudder when I see the millions of child bones swarming.

So hows this game on Frames Per Second.:hmm:Solid 30 with Fraps and without it. More stable than any other game out there.

No funny video glitches no lag, no X-Fi issues, no drop in anything... Just smooth game play. I can't get over it. The only other game that gave me this feeling was Prey when it came out.

A very Super Market your right about FO3 replay value. But they didn't have it and I will get it later from Eb Games so FO3 in on my to get list.

Kiwi that movie sucked. Some interesting moments but too lame. Heavy metal was a better movie...;)

I'm in Act 2 now going through the scary baby sections and medlab. I saw this freaky psycho chick sawing this guy in half...:o

I would get you some more gory photos but I'm too stunned to react fast enough to press screenshot... Ok I'll admitted I'm too scare to leave my finger off the trigger.:o

Flamer doesn't do too good against the babies freaks.

Kudos to the added canon when you find some audio logs from the crew before there.....:dead:

I'll be back I hope..:gulp:

I guess i'll just have to go out on a limb here (lawl pun) and say I hated it. At no point does Dead Space succeed at...well, anything it claims to do. It's not scary because the monsters all stand around like dolts in open spot lights and then just blindly rush the player like good NPC scripts. The game relies on predictable "shock" scares that are totally useless...because we've all seen horror movies already. The gameplay doesn't even work, because you can STILL trump enemies with the tired old "walk slightly behind beam = boss can't win." Resident Evil 4 cliches. Oh, also, if you're going to set a game in a giant space ship, it helps to have the interior levels and enviornments make sense with the structure of the ship. I'm still laughing at Halo's 17km long race track level.

I also found the pistol hilarious. Apparently humans in the future are incapable of twisting their hands. Also, what's with the lighting? Is their some kind of bulb shortage in the future?

I'll show a video shortly High rez. I get my butt kicked. I forgot to heal. Thats what happens when I'm focusing on video taping it rather than playing it. ;)

Unfortunately photobucket did something to the quality of the video.

I'm looking at how to restore the quality.

Other note this video is intended for adults. If your a minor Subsim and I aren't responsible for your crazy imagination and actions should you decide to saw people in two, mutilate or anyform of unnatural killing spree or mutate into creatures that feed off of flesh.
