Real wolves aside, I was wondering if there were former German Ubootfahrer (or their descendents) who played Silent Hunter 3.

Those are pretty  pics. How did you get so close? Were you using a telephoto (sp?) lens? Wolves are generally pretty shy & usually take off at the first sight or smell of people.

There are two possible answers...

I stalked these wolves for days across the expanses of Alaska. And while donning wolverine furs and covering myself in wolf urine, I was able to mask my scent and stealthily approach these timid animals for the pictures.

or...

I was on vacation at Busch Gardens (Williamsburg, Virginia) and the pictures were taken from a distance of about 50ft with a crappy camera.

The second answer is not quite as impressive, but probably more believable.

Thanks for the great pics,

My mate calls me the Grey wolf so them may be a
part of my clan.

Cool pics, wild wolves are far more elusive thats for sure.

My family has a cabin in the interior of BC, Canada. Usually all we see is deer, coyote's and bears but one winter a pack of wolves wandered down onto the frozen lake. The whole family was there, young ones rolling around playing etc. You can hear them often but rarely do you ever see one, let alone the whole pack.

It was pretty cool to see even though they were far away.
