My (now-ex) girlfriend watched 30 minutes of the uncut and asked why they were "speaking russian or french or whatever" before telling me that I liked "wierd" movies.

My wife leaves the house for the day when she sees me watch Das Boot as she knows that is 5 hours of torture for her. :smug:

Ha, my girlfriend actually watched the uncut original alone and loved it, how's that ? :D
I've only seen the director's cut myself !
There is a fair amount of romance and romantic humor in the beginning of the 'Uncut' version. I can see where that would appeal to some women.

Yeah, when the Kaleun looks at his U-boat in the pens.....you can tell it's true love.
<sigh>
She had a great figure, too.

Depends on what other movies you two watch together ... :)
P.S. Did you get that job driving the bus, yet?
In my eyes, you dont have to be into Subs, or WWII history, or whatever to appreciate the Holy Grail of sub movies. (though, it helps...)
You just have to appreciate great movie making. It's such a stunningly well written and directed, and acted film....

My circle will probably never be complete. In order to complete it, my wife has to play one of my board games and actually not fall asleep durring movies I like. :D
Eh, it's ok to have your own circle.

It's safe and warm in here... and my wife just commented that it's also under a huge rock the size of Texas that I refuse to come out from under. :D

If by "brains" you mean "boobs" then you'd be wrong.:D

But remember, some women...*gasp*....fake that they like the Holy Grail of submovies in order to fool innocent submarine-boys.
When a female says that she likes Das Boot, carefully observe any sudden variations in the dilation of pupils, sudden sweating, quickening of pulse or any other tell tale signs of lying.

My test was always: "If she can sit, riveted, watching my favorite film, 2001: A Space Odessey, she's a keeper."

My rule was a bit easier - cute little figure, great cook, and enjoys watching the footy with me. oh, and she lets me game. :D

That sounds like realistic, consider anything more a reason to propose sooner.

She loves horror movies:eek: I have watched plenty with her (I'm not a big fan of horror, but I love my wife more!:yep:)
Still waiting to hear back about the train job (not bus), but it seems positive at this stage!

Depends if you like horror movies:cry: Guess it could be worse, she could be into repeated viewings of the sound of music!

At least I'll have a seat!:D I figured if you can't beat them, join them. After being sujected to the rail system for the last 15 plus years, it was time to go over to the dark side!;)
EDIT: Just got an email saying that I just have to undergo a medical (turn your head and cough!) and a background check (If they look at this website, I'm $@#!*&) and I'm in. I speek english too well to become a guard!:-)

It gets better and better! Now we had a dicussion on the set up for attacking a convoy and the problems with American torpedos!
I love my Wife:D
Mine likes it but only the english dubbed version as she hates reading all the way through 3 hours of movie. Says if she'd wanted to read the story she'd have bought the book.
She still says I watch it too much though. The kids always whinge when dad puts on one of his submarine movies. They haven't gotten past me opening the DVD cover.
