Rick Davis (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/09/mccain_manager_this_election_i.html), campaign manager for John McCain's presidential bid, insisted that the presidential race will be decided more over personalities than issues during an interview with Post editors this morning.
"This election is not about issues," said Davis. "This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates."

In reaction to Rick Davis' comments about the election not being about issues, Barack Obama campaign manager David Plouffe released the following statement: "We appreciate Senator McCain's campaign manager finally admitting that his campaign is not in fact about the issues the American people care about, which is exactly the kind of cynical old politics people are ready to change."

I can't believe a campaign manager would be an idiot up to that point (He is of course right, it is exactly what these elections are all about, but to say it out on the open? that's political suicide! - maybe that would get me to vote for mccain just for the thruthfullness:rotfl:)

What he should have prefaced that statement with was "judging by the actions of the Obama campaign.....". Actually, if you bother to pay attention to the words he used instead of trying to read things into them, you can get his point. He didn't say that McCain's campaign wasn't about issues, he said the election wasn't about issues, which is mainly true. Obamas campaign person was the one who misspoke himself by twisting the statement into something it wasn't.

Bill O'Reilly said something to this effect today and i almost tore out my last remaing hair. I hate the politics as usual crap we always get from BOTH parties all too often. We do want to know what makes people tick, but for me it has to come down to the issues. I want to know HOW they are going to do what they say they will in detail. In the upcoming debates I hope the moderators will be very specific on these issues and hold the candidates to the fire until they answer the questions rather than doing the song and dance to skirt the issue.
