View Full Version : What's that biggest ship you sink with flak?
Just sink a Coastal Tanker (997 tons, unarmed of course) with flak alone. What's the biggest ship you got with only flak?
coastal freighter with 37mm flak
I only use the flak against small torpedoboats

Pfft, I sunk the USS Casablanca
I only use the flak against small torpedoboats
Why? They are too dangerous to fight with, too fast to aimed at, and too small to worth the effort.

If he knows how to aim and how to shoot, he will be fine!:p

Small merchants. If I could've taken my late-war IXB flak to 'em, I would've sunk a lot bigger ships (twin fast 38s, two twin fast 20s).

I was testing something the other day and, as usual, started out from Kiel. After I was satisfied with the test I got bored, and instead of just quitting I opened up on my Raumboot escort with my Type II's 20mm. He twisted and turned and zig-zagged, but he never fired back, and then down he went.
Yay me, I'm wild and dangerous where unsuspecting friendlies are concerned.

Sunderland flying boat.
I only use flak to shoot the guns off of lightly armed merchants when I surface next to them for the deck gun kill. Lots of fun, like that scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark......

a tug boat with my 20 mm flak gun during escape from succesfully raided Scapa Flow (my 2nd combat patrol)
that bastard tried to blind my crew, so that should learn him :arrgh!:...
I have no time to fart around with a fooking pea shooter. You got a better chance if Bernard dropped his pants and farted in there direction.

Biggest ship I sank with flak was a small passenger/cargo.
I was in IIA and didn't want to use a second torpedo, so used the flak gun to get the kill, was a sinch because the sea was like a millpond that day. Gorgeous weather.

Once sank an ore carrier....but that was only because she was near the point of no return from my torpedo inflicted damage
I got a small merchant with 37mm flak while using S-boot mod.
And once in high seas i've rammed and sunk damaged small tanker...:D sometimes i just lost my nerves and go wild...:arrgh!:
I believe once I was outta torpedos and came across a cruise ship bound for England.
Why I decided to shoot at it til it sunk I have no idea; took myself right outta the game. Vowed never to do that again... :nope:
Edit:
Oh wait! I see now that you said "flak"; in that case haven't attempted anything bigger than a tugboat or trawler. Somehow I think some others responding may have also missed the "flak" requirement. An ore carrier? Really? with your machine guns? This is insane... Why did I read flak and think deck gun? :nope:

...or at least they would be dangerous if they actually fired their torpedos. :shifty:
Nelson.

I think you talk about Mr. Nelson who was traveld by a small vessel.
When you opened fire to this ship Mr. Nelson take two shots from your flak and drop out to the sea.
