Hey guys I have Steam and that is where I bought Silent Hunter 4 of off... I see that my game is only patched at 1.3.. How am I able to get 1.4? I manually downloaded the patch but it says "Cannot find SH4"?

I heard that if I buy the U-Boat Expansion it auto-updates it to 1.5? But is there alot of players on multiplayer?.. The whole reason im buying the expansion is to upgrade my game to 1.5 thats how Mad I am..

Well you did the right thing by getting the add on no matter what your motivation. It not only patches your game but adds a lot of content.

But Steam?!.... I dident even know SH4 was offered there.

Ill let the others help you as Im not exactly a fan of Steam.

As to your only apparent question. There is not "ALOT" of multiplayer participants out there but there are some. Your not going to find multiplayer games with dozens of people in them.

Thankyou sir but.. I'm just saying If I get the expansion and I go into the Multiplayer will I see any servers or blank? I dont want to waste 10 dollars on something that doesent have anyone playing on multiplayer.

my impression is that online multi player may not be the most popular way to play this game because it takes a while to play it and it is rather slow by comparisson to online fps games which have fast and furious action.

this game is more of a personal challenge rather than team oriented but that doesnt mean you cant always find a server it just means you probably wont see a large group of servers to pick from.

Man this really dispoints me.. I put a ticket in steam and they said we dont allow modding the files and we must wait till the Game creator company sends us the patch..

Yeah, I hear yah, same here. Only multiplayer I ever got into was Vietcong and Operation Flashpoint on a server owned by a friend (http://6thsense.eu/ ;) ). All about teamplay and cooperation, none off that senseless running around and blasting anything that moves.

And they wonder why pc gaming is going down the drain! Stop making crap for overaggresive teenagers just so they can endlessly blow off each other's heads of!

Jakestg; ref MP and SHIV. I think you'll be vastly disappointed but if you think about it, a subsim by it's very nature is not exactly prime MP material. I tried MP with SH3 back in the day with some buddies and it just wasn't the same given that we were chatting while sumberged etc. MP, imho, will only be worthwhile if there are ever playable destroyers vs subs ala Destroyer Command's original intent.

As to teamplay and coop, IL2 is going strong with our little group and has for some years. An excellent game.

The groundpounding games, as mentioned, usually degenerate into uncoordinated free for alls which at best are disappointing but admittedly can still be fun.

That's one of the quickest ways to get exactly what you say you don't want. If you stick around you'll find that most of us are having fun here. Also, because we are a friendly bunch, theads do tend to wander a bit sometimes, but they also tend to wander back and get sorted. About the only thing that really sets us off is people making demands and ordering us around.

You can find a lot of help here, but it's easier if you just go with the flow and not make demands.
