In the WW2 which Russians are calling The Great Patriotic War
the Red Army had 10 mln solders.

This number includes 800,000 women who volunteered to take up arms
and fight for their Motherland.

Could happen.
Lots of Soviet girls were sharp-shooters in the GPW.

But they also would drive tanks T-34,
commanded self-propelled artillery vehicles SU85, SU100, SAU155 'Beast Killer'.
They would fly
fighters Yaks,
light bombers Po-2,
medium bombers Pe-2,
and famous Shturmovik IL-2 which Germans would call 'Fleisher', i.e. 'Butcher'

Russian women tend to be good looking and also well educated. And their schools tend to be quite harsh with stuff like discipline in comparison with western schools, I guess it's those ways of the old world that are still alive in those parts.

I think it might do good for many Finnish school yard misfits to go to a Russian primary school for a semester or two. As the Finnish saying goes, Siberia teaches. :)

My grandfather said amongst the dangers Germans at the Russian front feared most were female russian snipers. Colonel Marie Ljalková was a Czech sniper in the Soviet Army during World War II.
She was credited with at least 30 confirmed kills during the war,
and earned recognition with the Soviet Order of the Red Star
and the Czechoslovakian War Cross.

Not my relative, to be clear.

There were many nationalities in Germany at the end of the war; men, women, officials, military, civilian, red cross, religious charities, refugees... Why must the assumption be (based upon a couple of sentences on a forum) that it must have been nazi sympathisers?

You cannot uphold such a statement without more information to clarify, nor point and cry 'Nazi!' with such haste. Such readiness to accuse circumstance and act upon is unwise.
We have a saying here in britain: "Look before you leap." Many in the past and the present would still have their lives at the hands of others, were this better considered, Bruno :hmm:

Looks like its a Mosin Nagant M91/30 7.62x54mm bolt action sniper rifle with PU scope mounted.

mmmmmm.... I don't think so, look at the position of the breech. On a Mosin-Nagant the scope would interfere with the movement of the bolt.
Most likely a Tokarev semi-auto.

Darn it!........should have paid more attention to the scope mount! :damn:  :D

Yeah, now they have these 'fruits of democracy'.
Winds from the West. These are your guys.

There were no Nazies alive more then a couple of years in the USSR.
For Nazi in the USSR were three choices:
Death by noose
Death by bullet
With lesser 'exploits' either in GULAG or GUPVI (it's a new word for you to learn).

Year, Soviets were tough to Nazi. It might be why the West would call it 'Empire of Evil'. Poor, poor nazi...:(

About those first five years.
Do you have any idea that there was a CIVIL WAR in Russia?
Church supported the Whites - i.e. bloody enemies of the Reds.
Reaction from the Reds was predictable and effective.
The friend of my enemy is my enemy. Period.

After the Civil war Stalin stopped that.
During the Great Patriotic War the Russian Orthodox Church was
a very strong supporter of the Soviet people and the Soviet Army.

The Church even bought a unit of tanks - the first T-34-85 brand.
That tank unit was called Dmitriy Donskoy.

And some priests would fight with guns in their hands - preaching by action.

Bruno, I think part of the problem is that you see everyone as attacking Russia for no reason, when in fact there is good reason to criticize any country. On the other hand, others come to see you as defending certain crimes and acting as if they never happened. The Soviet Regime under Stalin was arguably as bad as the Nazi regime under Hitler. Stalin killed a lot of his own people. That said, Russia, like a lot of countries, is struggling to find itself and its place in the world, and to live down the past. Kind of like Germany. Kind of like Britain. Kind of like America.

Recognizing that there has been evil done doesn't make us evil now; it just makes us wary of allowing it to happen again. None of the guys you're arguing with actually hate Russia (well, one or two of them might; I'm not sure). Relax, stop trying to prove that nobody there ever did anything bad, because a lot of bad people in Russia did a lot of bad things.

And a lot of good people in Russia did a lot of good things. Just like people everywhere.

Specal arian God?
Considering that I belief that there is no God at all....

But to answer you: They may have had that on their belts, but bear in mind that the Nazis fought an unofficial war against the Church. The people who burnt the Jews at Reblinka were certainly not devout members of the church. Call the Belt buckle a some crappy tradition.

Oh year, sure.
They fought... And then they forgot about belts and capelans... Just were busy with Holocaust.

Wanna pictures how Wehrmacht solders are searching through a pile of cloths (kids cloths as well) of just recently shot Jews? Other Wehrmacht solders are watching how Soviet POWs are burying bodies...

Sure, all those Whermacht guys were Nazi only only.

I didn't say they forgot about their faith, I only said if they didn'tm then they their faith was twisted, and definitely not what God would have wanted. A lot of priests and reverends were killed in Nazi Germany because they stayed true to the humanistic principles of teh church.

In history of the Great Patriotic War?
or you mean present time situation?

I don't answer grand- or grand-grand children of those idiots
who came to Russia with 'Gott mit Uns' on their belts.
Their Gott was Anti-Crist for Russian Orthodox flock.
So the Ortodox church beliefs in a different god than the rest of the world? I see. Very modern thinking there.
Which god did you guys believe when you would burn people in Treblinka or Auschwitz?

On the belts of your grandfather and his buddies was 'Gott mit Uns'.

Isn't it the same thing is anti-Christ? So Russian Orthodox Church was right calling
its flock to fight anti-Christ (guys who have twisted faith, have a God which they truly don't want...) and assemble money for new tanks for the Red Army from the Russian church.

About photos. Smart move. In color, made by a guy from the 6th Army (perished more then a year later in Stalingrad) in that period when the Army was in Ukraine (Kiev). Very revealing. They would call it now GRAPHIC.

Which god did you guys belive in when you loaded my grandmother and other men, women and clildren onto cattle cars and shipped them off to siberia to work and die in camps?

Two can play at this silly game, pointing fingers like this is not only childish, it is what is causing the bad blood in the first place. Sailor Steve has hit the nail exactly on the head.

If they all died how come you are around?

Am I talking to a ghost:huh:

Okay...

Not at all. If there is a god he would never condone what happened there. Thats what I wanted to say. They just THINK that god is with them.

Where in my post did I clam that they all died? Most did, but my grandmother was not one of them, she died 4 years ago of a stroke. Nice dodge there, avoided the point entirely.

Aren't these the four sisters in the Airforce or Army, two of them fly helicopters I think?

Isn't that a C-130?

The instrumentation seems oldfashioned enough.

Official Russia also claims that the Baltics joined volunterily and invited the Soviets.
People that dont see the comparison, if Germany would behave like this, are blind. Ofcourse we are offended, but instead we are accused of being diffucult and nationalistic by rest of the West. I dont really care anymore, atleast we have a pair.

I'm the one who mentioned it. I saw it posted in another forum about five years ago. They aren't sisters, they were women who served as cargo pilots and other aircrew, and they got together just for an all-female flight and photo shoot.

And I also mentioned that that .png picture is taking up an awful lot of bandwidth to be casually posted over and over again. Not my forum, but I'm told these things cost money.

So what.
I'll tell you another story.

My family was sent from the Southern Ukraine to Archangel'sk for being rich (and they truly did), for being Germans (and they truly had a lot of this blood in their veins) and for BEING enemies (almost 'enemies of the people') and they truly were enemies of the Reds. My grand-grand-father and all his brothers were fighting Reds in the Civil War in the Ukrainian insurgence Army of bat'ko Makhno. Of cause, they were not happy with 'collectivization'. They had their class reasons.

The trip to Archangelsk happened in 1933. There they were put in 'German spetsposelenije', i.e. a camp under guard for class enemies of the Reds with German blood.

When the war broke out my grandfather and two of his brothers immediately volunteered to fight for their Motherland - the Soviet Union that is. Initially they did not take them. And only after Stalin's order 227 when there was truly problems with new troops for Red Army, they took all my grandfathers and all males from 'German spetsposelenije' who volunteered to fight. They also Ukrainized their last names - do not make them sound like Germans. My grandfather finished that war in Austria 1945, second in Poznan', the third was killed in late 1942.
After the war as war veterans they took the family and moved back to Ukraine (thogh in another oblast

So, if honest - there was a class war at the time. They got what was due according to the laws of the time as representatives of opposing social class (i.e. 'people enemies'). They were enough smart to survive and be quite OK after the war.

There's a lot of talk about 'Ukrainian genicide' nowadays.
Heck, my folks did not notice any genotside at that time .
They mast be traveling to Archangelsk.
