View Full Version : Editing renown points

I've found the file to edit, but whenever I change the settings I still get no renown for the mission. For example, I set my file to give me 500000 renown upon completing a patrol (so I could just dock without ever leaving). No luck.

I'm using SH3 Commander, GWX2.1, OLCE2. I had a feeling starting with SH3 Commander was the culprit, so I tried editing and running the game without...same trouble.

I tried variations such as actually patrolling my assigned grid and returning to base...nothing seems to keep the .cfg file from reverting itself to GWX values.

Any ideas?

not sure erich...i may be wrong..but does the config file in "MY Documents"/sh3 folder have to be changed to the same values as the one in your main directory?

Why on earth would you want such a huge amount of renown for simply completing a patrol http://imgcash6.imageshack.us/img231/1076/shockedvi8.gif

I can't advise you to tinker with the GWX Cfg files because your following posts will more than likely be on the line of "my install is broke, how do I fix it"

Here is a simple method for awarding yourself renown:

Go to:

C:\Documents and Settings\probably your name\My Documents\GWX\data\cfg\Careers\name of your kaleun

Open the Patrols_0 Cfg and at the bottom you will see a line:

DeltaRenown=795.500000

Simply change the value to what you want.

That's nuttin :p Mines set at 999999999.

I play by tonnage useing the Aces tonnage totals and averageing what I should get per patrol.

If I don't exceed their average I don't buy any Goodies.

A little extra math work but, what the hell I got all day.:p :rotfl:

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I know it's a huge amount, but basically this happened: I chose to start off in Flotilla 2, so I could drive the IXB subs. Instead I found myself requesting a transfer and arriving in Wilhelmshaven with an IIA. 9000 renown was needed to upgrade, and with 5 torpedoes, even assuming none are duds and I never miss (which I don't :rotfl:), 9000 seems like forever away (case and point: last night I ran across a lightly escorted convoy full of fat merchants...no problems intercepting, middle of the night, every advantage on my side. I was able to sink two ships, with a class VIIx I probably could have gotten at least 3 or 4).

I just wanted a large enough amount, once, so I wouldn't have to worry about it later (as usually I can make enough renown between patrols to outfit with the newest upgrades). In retrospect, simply a one-time award of 9000 will be fine.

Then simply add 9000 points to your DeltaRenown http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif
