Just checking before upgrade. Will SH4 (and SH3 for that matter) work with Vista 64 bit?

Tks in advance.

SH3 StarForce protected version only if you upgrade the StarForce drivers to 64bit
SH3 unprotected version - yes

I've got SHIV patched to 1.5 both on the XP hard drive in my computer and the same on my Vista 64 bit hard drive. I've got the XP side tweaked real well and get over 100+ frames out at sea. The 64 bit side only renders 30-40 frames in the same scenario.

Maybe my vid card drivers that are great for XP are not so great for the 64 bit side? They're two 7900 GSs in SLI...and I've got 4 gigs of ram and a dual core processor.

As said above SH4 works fine in vista x64 (not got SH3 installed now)

Tip though, Create folders on your drive for games instead of letting the installation run to the prog files x86 (default directory) eg: C: make folder called SH3 SH4 etc etc (i use C: as an eg but use whatever your drive letter is)

This seems to help (read somewhere it's because of the way vista x64 prog files are laid out and accessed)

This from what I understand is the biggest issue with vista. Not so much the OS as the hardware vendors support.

Ive been running the game on 64-bit vista ultimate w/o any problems

Yes, I did that but to no avail as reported above. SHIV is running SO WELL on the XP side that I guess I'll just leave it there for the time being. I don't want to upgrade my vid drivers for vista only and possibly screw up my XP set-up.

I guess I was just expecting the vista postion to well outperform the XP portion given the recognition of the additional ram...

Ditto...I get 120+ frames in open seas and around 60-70 in congested ports..and mine is installed in X86 default location.
