This is what you get with a $100 oil change these days. 6 quarts Mobile 1 Synthetic - $66, 1 specialty oil filter - $12.50, Labor to put it in - $15, crease in your hood after it hits the roof while your car is going up on the lift - Priceless!
Notice the line in the reflection of the clouds in the background.

Chin up sub. When people ask what happened, tell them its' a speed crease to make the car go faster.:up:They are arranging to have it fixed on Monday. Not sure I trust 'their' guys, but whats the worst that can happen? They screw it up completely? Then they buy a new hood I guess.
The hood of that car is cursed anyway. A harmonic balancer fell off the Mercedes in front of me on the freeway one day, flew up and smacked right into the old hood on this very same car. An inch higher and it would have easily passed through my windshield and killed me. So after being splattered with oil from the Mercedes and coming to my senses, I chase the guy down. He thinks I'm some weirdo with an oil splattered car and refuses to pull over! So eventually, his car is completely drained of oil, so he has no choice! Friggen finally got him to realize what had happened. He offered me $1000 at the scene to not have it go through insurance. I denied that and took it to the shop. Ended up costing over $3000 for a new hood.
I have lots of stories like this.

I take it that the service was completed by a Saab dealership? I've read on multiple occasions of ppl getting their oil changed at a 'drive thru' oil change place and the oil plug not being put in. They have a major engine lock up a few miles down the road and the oil place fighting them on the replacement engine.

I had this happen to me on my old 9000 Aero. Dropped the entire oil change onto the freeway. Oil place had to pay $13,000 for a new engine.

Mine was a little different.
I was driving a 1974 Volvo 164E (loved that car). It had an 8 quart oil pan. I took it in for an oil change. I did not realize that the chimps only put 5 quarts of oil in. They drained 8 quarts and replaced 5. Using advanced differential calculus that means that I was running 3 quarts low.
It was only by dumb luck (the only luck I seem to have) that I checked the oil about a week later. I still don't know why I checked the oil since I just had the oil changed. Imagine my surprise when the dipstick came out covered in dust.
I could have burned out that wonderful 3 litre straight six engine. Luckely there was no damage and I was able to top it off.... well adding three quarts is not exactly topping it off but you get my meaning.
Soooo if you get your oil changed and you have a car with an extra large oil pan, make sure they the chimps fill it up with all the oil it needs.

Friday wa my day. Came home from the city and found some @#$%&*! had side swiped my car, taking out the side mirror on the drivers side and scraped two panels of the car.:stare:
Then I found out my insurance woun't cover me due to the fact I can't name the driver (they took off and left no details:hulk:), even if it wasn't my fault! Now I'm faced with the repair bill:/\\!!

Since no one is guessing. That little dent above will cost $576.28 to fix.

The Clearcoat is the problem. If I let the cheap route happen the car will look like Sh*t in 6 months when it turns into a big splotch.

Whats your deductable? If it's $500 eat the bill.

Whats your deductable?$250, but when someone else does the damage, that doesn't apply. I may have to front my own deductible, but in the end, I am free and clear.

I understand, but the insurance company will still hike up the rate because you made a claim. Even though it is not your fault and at fault party has insurance. They have all these little discounts that they give you and one of them is "no accident". Unless you totally leave them out of it and go through the guilty party's insurance.

I've had Hartford for 12+ years, and now I have Met Life and have had them for about the same number of years. They do not do this to loyal customers. They would lower my rates in such a situation.

1480 - Just got off the line with my insurance agent because of you - disturbed that Met Life gave money to Obama and not to McCain. I'll probably go back to Hartford over that.
