If I'm jealous? You bet I am. What type, P51-D!?

If I'm jealous? You bet I am. What type, P51-D!?Couldn't tell, but i assume. I saw bubble canopies and the D is the most numerous.

I have an airport not far from here. They are probably heading in there for breakfast. I might go over there and take a look.

And I am the one that is jealous when I wrote that above!

You'd better be, otherwise you'd be insane. To be able to fly a P-51...my highest dream, except for being able to fly the Sopwith Camel: An excrutiatingly difficult plane to handle:yep:

It is something to see one P51 but to see four of them, that is a good day.

P51, Cadillac of the Skies!

The P51 has got to be my favourite WWII fighter.

That scene from Empire of the Sun never fails to make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.

I suppose being a Brit I should love the Spitfire, and I do, but there is just something about the P51 that makes it so cool; powerful without looking brutish; beautiful yet still purposeful looking.:hmm:

Slightly off topic; I saw a Lancaster Bomber overfly our house the other week. Theres ususally a few light aircraft buzzing around but I couldn't mistake the deep rich roar of a Rolls Royce Merlin engine (or 4 on this occasion) and as I rushed over to the window, sure enough there was a Lancaster heading into the distance. Those old piston engines make a gorgeous sound!

Anyway, well spotted Subman.
