since Shivering Isles, have there been any late developements, addons, interesting things been done done? any late great mods, things you would not like to miss, must-haves? It has become quite around this fantastic game. I rank it as one of the absolutely best and finest and most immersive PC games ever. It is definitely amongst my top five for the island question.
Would like to know too. :hmm: Havent played it in ~6 months or so. I'd guess there's tons of new mods, not necessarely modpacks, but still...

Officially I think the last thing was a castle addon (was free for the first week or 2 when it came out). No idea for mods, haven't been following in a long time either.

The castle is Battlehorn castle, and it is very, very nice.

You gotta check some of the new houses and stuff the community has made. My favorite has to be a lighthouse in the middle of the sea. It consists of the lighthouse tower, with light and all and then there's the underwater part. Very nice.

Souns like Topal islan mod, that I also know. It is in the south. Small island with complete garden, separate manson, lighthouse.
But Battlehorn castle really is great. Including personnell there to keep up the guard, to take care of your killed animals, a blackmsith, and a combat trainer. Hidden rooms, a deep buried dungeon with a treasure - short, what you expect of an adventure castle.
Nah, the lighthouse was a separate mod. Tho, might be it's incorporated with the island mod. :hmm: I think I need to have a look at the Battlehorn castle thigny. :yep:

I have been wanting to get back into Oblivion, but there's just so many mods. It makes my head spin. I've restarted so many times. I spent way too much time dicking around with new mods and updates to others. Not to mention the inevitable compatibility nightmare that occurs when you go overboard. I like how in SH3, GWX made things a lot easier and saved much time. I feel like there aren't enough 'supermod' type mods for Oblivion.
To be honest (and lazy) I've been waiting to see if somebody could put together some sort of installer or something for FCOM. Then I would probably go back to Oblivion. Simply installing OOO or something just doesn't do it for me anymore.
Anyway, earlier this year I had a lot of fun messing with mods under a mods list at bethesda's forum called, Deltes Mod List, or something like that. It's a list of mods put together with emphasis on game immersion.
here's a link:
Delte's Immersion Mods List

Bottom Line, as far as I'm concerned, is to put together the monster that is FCOM

Basically, it is a way to play some of the biggest mods together. Putting this beast together will greatly alter Oblivion (for the better). Think of it as putting GWX over stock SH3. Only, nowhere near as easy to install.
GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. The only reason I haven't been playing Oblivion for some time is because I spent a **** long time putting together a bunch of mods and then my hard drive told me to piss off. Then I put him in the freezer and wouldn't you know it, he apologized and let me reinstall windows.
Oh yea, look into a good leveling mod. As you know, by default, Oblivion has a retarded leveling system.
I thought this one was very good. Dunno if there has been any updates since when I was using it. It's called 'Realistic Leveling'.

Ah what the heck, lemme mention one more. It is called 'DarkUI'd DarN'. If you feel like the default UI is too consolized and bright, then you may want to try it out.

Dunno if there's been any updates since then. A bunch of these links are from my old 'Oblivion' bookmarks folder from earlier this year.
LOL OK ONE MORE. Check out a mod called 'Deadly Reflex' it is a barrel of fun. Makes combat more interesting. Here's a link

I'm pretty sure that's the latest version. I belive a version 5 is on the way sometime.
I figure this list is pretty awesome. Anybody wanting to get back into Oblivion should definitely go with some mods. There isn't a heck of a lot of official stuff. Besides, there are some flaws with the default game (like the leveling system and the UI). There are some things you should probably have, like the Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM), the latest Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) and Wrye Bash. Er those are the only ones that come to mind at this moment. I've been out of it for a while, but I think many still consider the Unofficial Patch to be a must have.
OBMM
http://timeslip.chorrol.com/obmm.html can change load order and detect conflicts among other things. You can create OMODS with it for easy enabling/disabling of mods.
OBSE
http://obse.silverlock.org/ allows modders to do some cool stuff with the game. This link includes a neat list of mods that use it
Wrye Bash
http://wrye.ufrealms.net/Wrye%20Bash.html lets you do quite a lot. from the description,
"Wrye Bash is a Swiss Army Mod Tool! I.e., it does a bunch of stuff, so it's kind of hard to categorize! However, in general, it does two types of things:
• Manage Oblivion mods and savegames in a general way. E.g.:
• Sort rename, reorder, preview, etc.
• Load savegame masters
• Separate savegames into profiles.
• Provide a few special purpose functions. E.g.:
• Import NPC levels (useful for Oscuro's, Francesco's and similar releveling mods)
• Import PC face from one game to another.
• Fix the door/flame animation bug that occurs around 200 hours."
Unofficial Patch
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296 Close shut the flaws of Oblivion.
I know this post wound up long, but I figure some dudes might see it and think about getting back into Oblivion after a long time and appreciate the info. Also, I can't sleep and have nothing to do :p
Perhaps when I remember and get the feeling to, I will list my must have mods. Anyway, if anybody does feel like they have some 'must haves' then perhaps they'd like to share. Oblivion on it's own is a mediocre game. However, with mods, it really can be an incredible experience that you will enjoy for a long ass time.

You can check their mods forums, there's always something new being released, but as far a I know, nothing as major as was done for Morrowind yet as come out. The two expansions (KotN and SI) are the only two that Bethsoft will release for Oblivion. They seem to be directing their energy to Fallout. Once they're off of that ride, I believe they'll be working on ES-V, and I'm hoping it'll be either Summerset Island or Skyrm (two pretty big landmasses).
BTW, I'm just scratching the surface of Oblivion myself (squeezing it in with time needed for SH4 and The Witcher, Gothic 2, Flight Sim X {which I just got for my birthday!} and two train sims). Just testing a few mods that add backpacks, adjusting the HUD so it's not blasting right there on the screen, etc. Enjoying the immersion at the moment.

It's even worse when you do your own modding. I have my own super pack carefully put together from a hundred different mods (which I have modded to my tastes) and my own unreleased work. It is a royal pain in the butt updating it as by the time I do it, I have completely forgotten half the changes I made. Which means I need to sit down and do a huge whack of comparisons so I know what I need to change again. I do this for a lot of games too, in fact every game I run modded I've modded the mods for.
