Not much there, except maybe KKK people. They generally don't come out of the woods however.

That's Northern Ida-ho.:o

I did a Civil war re-enactment in Spokane and we went into town in our CSA uniforms, bad idea. We go some dirty looks and managed to find the black people in town. One guy in our group got an earfull from somebody. we did get a lot of dirty looks. I don't like wearing my uniform outside re-enactment; you look like a freak and it is uncomfortable. This was the only time we've ever had someone give us grief about wearing a Southern uniform. Anyway, every body thought we were from northern Idaho.:dead:

I've spent time in eastern Ida-ho:oops: . and that is the most freakiest place I've ever lived.:o (It re-defines rural hicks, and not in a good way.) I don't mind rural people, but I knew enough people there that were very narrow minded, and that really bothered me.
Just a basic example, I was there when Iraq invaded Kuwait. A large number of people (local) were convinced that this was the beginning of the apacolypse (the babylon thing). It was really funny to see some of these hysterical people run around telling people that this was the end of the world.

Hopefully, there are enough "for-ners":rotfl: in Boise, that 's not like that.

Here is the thing....I lived in the Eastern Shore of Maryland for a year and a half. It was very rural at the time and I felt like I was 5 years behind everyone else in the US. You just might feel this way in Boise. I like slow and easy every now and then but not 24/7.

I just need to buy a pair of overalls and grow a beard, I already have a musket.

When I was in eastern Ida-ho, I felt like I was 20 years behind. :rotfl: To make things worse, I didn't have a car, so I couldn't escape.

Same with me on the Eastern Shore of MD. It was my first year at Salisbury University. No car. Could not wait to shake that town. I transfered to University of Maryland College Park and finished college there. I felt very backwards on the shore of MD. Some love it. Not for me.

When are you having a free day?:p I can arrange that, but I don't have a way to carry it on the plane. And I think they'd frown on me brinnging gun powder and musket balls. that means, I'd have to drive up there.:hmm:

You can fly weapons on aircraft. You have to make arrangements with the carrier in advance.

Ammo - now thats a different matter.

I like some of this old stuff once in a while. Its like an acomplishment to be able to pull the trigger and it works!

On a positive note, housing is very cheap and the cost of living is low. so I figure it like this:

Low cost of living+ great salary= live like a king:rock: :()1:

That is what I ment S1. Ammo needs to be arranged. Most just buy their ammo when they arrive to their destination.

It's not my first choice, but I do like working.
Plus, it meets my long term goals, home ownership.

Housing prices in ore-gone are too high. An I do lie smaller towns (I can't believe I said that).

The big downside, no ocean nearby:damn:

Ha, there is a new twist in all of this. I have a new interview with a second company, not in boise.:hmm:

But the more I think about boise, the better I like the prospects.:hmm: I could afford a really nice house there, with a big yard.

Big salary+low cost of living= cool sports car for me to commute to work in.:yep:

the other prospect

bigger salary+ high cost of living (housing)= crabbing boat for ol' mcbee:hmm: .

Did some repairs years ago at the Naval nuclear power training facility in Idaho Falls. Disgusting place. There must be a Sanitarium near by or something like that. I was eating at a Diner and a bus load of severly deformed people came into the Diner. Please, I have much compassion on these folks and have a daughter with cerebral palsey, so I am not making fun here. One young man had a pointy head with blisters all over it. The back of his head had what looked like an appendage growing out if and was the size of a softball. They sat in the booth next to me. The woman who was supervising them kept telling all of us it is OK and they come to town once a week to the diner and to the park. Noted to self to avoid those days. Well, i was just about done with my country fried steak and gravey, when the pointy headed dude started to yell and scream. He was grabbing at the softball thingy on the back of his head and it ruptured green and yellow puss all over the table. I about hurled on the spot while I watched the waitress and supervisor attempt to clean up this goo. Every time I order country fried steak this memory come to the front burners of my mind. But, yes i think you just might enjoy Idaho.:yep:

Okay, so i survived my trip to Boise. It was much larger than what I thought it would be. Plenty of stuff to do. Although, flying in it looks like Afghanistan. (high mountain desert). I survived my job interview:hmm: (hopefully). there was some excitement though. There was a huge grass fire (which I saw:o ) that burned down 9 houses and a person died in the fire. Scary stuff.

I live close to Twin Falls, about 100 miles east of Boise. My wife and I go there every 2 or 3 months to shop in places that Twin doesn't have, or to pick up my friend at the airport when he flies in from Kansas City. It's a wonderful city, very clean, not terribly crowded and had decent highway and beltway access.

The downside is that there isn't a whole lot to really *see* in Boise. You might consult this site: http://www.boise.org/ and see what suits your timeframe and fancy.

No KKK dudes or skinheads either... They used to be in Sandpoint Idaho but got run out long ago...
