Hi All :sunny: Did search to no avail.
Can some one give me a quick tutorial on how to get SH-4 GOLD to install and run on Vista ?

I know practically nothing about Vista (except to stay away from it:doh:), but, whatever you do, don't install it into the "Program Files" folder. Other than that, it should install just like anything else.

Thx DT For your quick response.
Have done like you advised and it goes thru Intro then nothing but blackscreen. :damn:
Where as installed on XP I will get loading screen after the cloudes part of intro.

Still ain't haveing any luck. :damn:
A while back it seemed like every third new member asked " How do you install SH-4 on Vista."
Now useing search or posting everyone but DT and Jimbuna
went blank.
Jeesh. Lately it seems if I asked how many rivets on a VIIB conning tower I'd get 20 replys.:p
But ask something I kinda need a quick answer on and it's like pulling teeth.

Make sure you install DirectX9 (yes, even if you have DX10 installed). The game absolutely requires it and it will not work without it. Why M$ doesn't recognize a need for DX9 on Vista, I'll never know (OK, so I don't want to know either:doh:)

I had no trouble installing on Vista. Just put the disc in and go.
Did you let it install all the optional junk too? That helps.

Click on the exe file and check Run as Admin and it will work.

Try messing with your video settings. Sometimes when I'm tweaking things with nhancer, I get a black screen after the intro and I have to turn off antialiasing. I do manage to get it back after a while but I couldn't tell you how.

Same experience as Ripper "...and I have to turn off antialiasing". This got me through the black screen problem. Also had a problem with fires and torpedo explosions slowing down the frame rates. I found that running in XP compatability mode (right click on your SH4 shortcut to find this) seems to have cured this problem.
Note I installed in the programs folder (yes, I know despite all advice to the contrary  ) and haven't found the need to run as an administrator yet.
Best of luck,

I had no trouble installing on Vista. Just put the disc in and go.
Thats is pretty much it in a nutshell... ...how much easier could it be? With Vista you basically only have to put the disc in it's jewel box somewhere near your computer desk. Then Vista will not only install it for you but also add the mods you like, defrag your hard drive, make you a cup of coffee and call you when it is time to play.
Not at all like it was on those old, primitive out of date OSs....;)
Edit:
To confirm..my copy of SHIV 4 Gold arrived yesterday. I didn't get around to installing until after I wrote the above. Well..just as I suspected..it installed on Vista and ran without so much as a hiccup.
In fact this version which is "compatible" with Vista..(as if the old one wasn't) runs at a framerate of 120+ in heavy operating areas. With the 1.4 version I was getting in the 70's. I suppose that is icing on the cake.

As stated, If you're running nvidia card/s when on the initial loading you will hear sound but get no screenies
You just let nvidia cp use games options (hope this makes sense, i mean no AA etc let driver n game set settings)
Once you go into the game then set settings up to your liking, then exit and set nvidia cp settings with AA etc to your liking
Now, Whenever i install games in vista i just make a folder for each game direct in C: (or whatever drive letter you're using)
The school of thought for doing this is the way vista handles its prog file folder
