i was on my 2nd patrol in 1941 stationed in manilla phillipiens (yea i spelled it wrong you know what it means.) and the lil movie clip when i came back from my 1st patrol said the japs had surrounded manilla and subs might be carrying out vip's or something like that.

well my orders were not to transport vip's but to patrol on the north end of the island ive did so successfully sinking a merchant and 2 jap liners. (by the way do you usually use all 4 torps when shooting at a ship like a merchant or a liner or that just for dd's?) i checked map and the flag thing was greyed check the log and it said mission complete i started plotting waypoints back to my port and i noticed the tilted anchor sign is gone...there is nothing there cept a little dot with manilla byside it, well i tryed going in the bay and it wouldnt let me end..

now what do i do, do i have to sail to the only other harbour on the map where the anchor is straight up or start a new campaign in pearl harbor :hmm:

welcome aboard, lad,

sm and med tankers and freighters ( and destroyers) most always need only 1 topr ( if you hit,,, and it goes off !)

lg tankers and freighters and liners take 2 or more.

check your mail, it will tell you manilla was overrun and to move your base to java.

later that too will fall and you will fall back to freemantle.

always watch your gas. flank speed sucks it up too fast. 10 kts is best. always have gas to get home.

i read this forum 15 times a day and will always help you if I can.

good luck and good hunting

Most likely it because Manila has been, or is about to be, captured by the Japanese.

Using my time traveling machine, your next port of call should be Surabaya in East Java of the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia today).

I normally fire one torpedo for every 3000 tons.

If your using TMO or NSM, hitting low as possible on the ship is key, as it floods the fastest, and anytime your using just a single torpedo I would try and aim for the engine compartment, because a disabled target will quickly become a dead one with either another torpedo or by deck gun if it is unarmed.

Good Hunting

DDs usually go down with one or two. Those big liners, if you can get it just right and hit them right in the back end, they sink like a rock with one torp. If you get them on the side they can take two or three. And they usually are not armed until very late in the war, so unless they are escorted surface and go right up to them and get the back end, low with the deck gun. I found if 1.5 they are escorted more often than they were in 1.4. And lots of tons in one ship and they usually travel in pairs. What I do is, if they are not escorted try for the back end shot (from the side though, but right where the prop shafts enter the ship) and shoot one and wait to see. With no escorts you can catch them surfaced, they do about 17knots. If they are escorted I usually do at least two or three, depends on what I have left.

With all the ships you learn it depends a lot on where you hit them. I sank a BB with one torpedo that was aimed at a DD and missed. He caught me not paying attention and I didn't have time to dive, so I took a couple shots on the way down, hoping.
